    Good LiFePO4 RCR123 cells

posted by 74Sharps on 01/21/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These seem to be really nice LiFePO4 cells. They work quite well in 3 Volt applications. Their voltage under load, is closer to 3.2-3.4 volts, keep that in mind when considering your application.
    Cons:
The only con I can really think of, is that since they are LiFePO4 cells, their capacity is not very high. I have not run a di...

Four Pin Connectors Are Hard To Find!

posted by 74Sharps on 01/21/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These 4-pin connectors are really hard to find. They are worth having around even if you cut them in half, just so you can use the ends. They seem to be molded/made fairly well.
    Cons:
The wire is of a really small gauge. The length of the wire is not very long. They probably will not take a lot of bending, p...

    Nice Little Lighter

posted by 74Sharps on 01/21/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This is a very small lighter. It really is a "keychain" lighter. If you keep the wick trimmed, and fill it up with fluid often, it is really a nice lighter.
    Cons:
The reservoir is diminutive, so it does not hold a lot of lighter fluid, so require frequent refilling The wick needs to be ke...

    Great Flints, And Holder

posted by 74Sharps on 01/21/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These flints come with a similar holder to other ones you're familiar with. They work quite well. You cannot beat the price!
    Cons:
I would say the quality of these flints is not quite as good as the big name brands, but at this price, who cares! They do not...

This Is really A Nice Little Charger

posted by 74Sharps on 01/21/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I was skeptical as to how well this little charger would work. I was pleasantly surprised! it does as it says, and charges most every type of cell you will run into, except LiFePO4 cells.
    Cons:
For larger cells, this charger is a little slow. It will work though, eventually. I am not real big on fold out plugs. This ...

Good 14500 Cells If, They Are Not Too Long

posted by 74Sharps on 01/20/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These cells seem to work pretty well. Capacity seems a bit optimistic, but they are not too bad.
    Cons:
The biggest problem with these cells, is that they are 51.9mm long. The addition of the protection circuit adds a bit too much...

    Good 14500 Cells

posted by 74Sharps on 01/20/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These seem to be pretty good 14500 cells. Unlike a lot of protected cells, these are not longer than the 50mm standard size for 14500 cells. They work well in my TL3 Mini-M@g hotwire, and fit with no problems, either in width, or length.
    Cons:
Build quality is so so, but probably better than average in this price range. I have not actually checked their capacity, but ...

Good Substitute For "D" Size Cells

posted by 74Sharps on 01/20/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Great alternative to using "D" size cells. Much better than the single "AA" version. Twice the capacity. Easy to load and unload the "AA" cells. The end "snaps" securely.
    Cons:
I do not know how long the hinges will last. They are pretty thin. I am sure they will last a while though. For some "D" siz...

    Nice Bright clear Lenses

posted by 74Sharps on 01/20/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I was expecting these to have light scratches on the surfaces, but no, they are "clear as a bell"! They made it halfway around the planet in the envelope, without getting broken. Amazing!
    Cons:
Not really anything I can think of. It would be nice if they were coated, but at this price, I would not expect it.

Brick Type 5 Volt 2A power Supply

posted by 74Sharps on 01/20/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I find the "brick" type power supplies much handier than the "wall wart" type. If nothing else, they do not take up two places on an outlet strip. This unit seems to do as it says. Very compact. Simple to use. Just plug it in, and it is ready to go. N...
    Cons:
I am not sure how long this power supply will last. I do not plain on requiring it to deliver more than 1 Amp, so hopefully it...
