A Good Light ... With Issues

posted by BrorJace on 08/02/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Bright light ... really nice workmanship. Looking this light over, it would not surprise me it was made by Romisen. The fit 'n finish are THAT good. I love the stainless steel band and the front threads, they are a nice touch. Very compact for a light ta...
    Cons:
One REALLY big con, here: The light would not fire reliably when I got it. I tried all kinds of things: wiping the silicone l...

    Pretty Good Light

posted by BrorJace on 08/02/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Another good light from Romisen ... even if it is styled differently than most of their other lights. Metal is relatively thick giving this light a robust feel to it. I have a P4 Romisen light (RC-F4) which is driven by 2 3.0v CR123s (my current lumens kin...
    Cons:
Build quality is not up to Romisen's very, very high standards. Threads on the font are good (you can disassemble the front of...

    Outstanding Light and value!

posted by BrorJace on 03/06/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Very bright ... a rough guess would put it at about 140-150 lumens. Nice white beam tint ... slightly purple only noticeable when white-wall hunting. Typical high-quality Romisen Craftsmanship: very nice finish. Light weight. Man-sized Lanyard. Glow-in-t...
    Cons:
I have to get picky hereas the light has no serious faults: Light won't tail stand ... uses pricey CR123 batteries. Reverse cli...

    An Execllent Pick

posted by BrorJace on 02/10/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Light is compact, build quality is excellent. It's as good as any of the lights by MTE ... almost as good as the Romisen lights (a very high standard). Switch seems robust and the lanyard is useful for most adult hands. Threads are precise and anodized. O...
    Cons:
Light is a touch heavier than other top-quality 1xAA lights I have ... but this is nitpicking. It actually makes the light fee...

    Fair performance light

posted by BrorJace on 02/10/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Light is compact, build quality is decent, switch seems robust and the lanyard is useful for an adult with small hands. Threads are rather coarse and I doubt the o-ring seals well enough for this light to survive a dunking.
    Cons:
Generic LED is a poor performer. Light output is between a 0.5watt and 1.0 watt nichia. It is brighter than most keychain lig...
