good phone, but lacks google play

posted by CarlosLint on 01/27/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    - Phone is fast enough - Dual core - Screen is bright (often too much) - Touchscreen sensor is accurate - Screen is also big - Come with 2 batteries
    Cons:
The biggest issue by far is the lack of Google Play / Google Market. The device has one, but that's only available in chinese, ...

    Solved my problem

posted by CarlosLint on 12/18/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    - Somewhat cheap - Impossible to find at local shops here - The cable is not terribly thin - It's 24 pins (20 pins would be useless) - It's sure that 30cm will fit and exceed your need.
    Cons:
    - 30+ cm is really overkill, I would rather buy a 10cm version out of this to conserve space on my computer cabinet. (And that ...

    more or less good

posted by CarlosLint on 11/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    - It packs original android (all these tablets do, but I keep myself away from android customizations) - Includes a real gps receiver
    Cons:
Software hands all the time, I mean, all the time, it does have a bug in the standby/sleep procedure, so you leave it in standb...

    cheap card

posted by CarlosLint on 11/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    - It works great on Windows with GeForce drivers, so I can guess that it really packs a legitm nvidia GPU on it. - The price is around what an entry-level card like gt950 is around some places.
    Cons:
    - It will not work with nvidia drivers on Linux, don't ask me why, it just won't work. (tried that 2 months ago, maybe they hav...

have not wroked on my astra

posted by CarlosLint on 11/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    - It's cheap and work on nonstandard (with standard I meant OBD-2) protocols adopted by GM/Opel. - Comes with software. - Often you'll have to pay more just to let someone use a similar device on your car ONCE.
    Cons:
    - Does not support my Astra-G (1998~2002 version) engine, the car is brazillian, so I'm unable to determine who's the fault, st...

    best arduino deal I've got

posted by CarlosLint on 11/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    - It's fully compatible with arduino. - Comes with everything that you'll need to start. (i.e. the board and a usb a-b cable) - FT232 IC is included, not the atmega serial. (Which is good for some, bad according to others)
    Cons:
It's not the newer atmega2560 brand hardware. I doubt anyone will ever need that much of code space using an arduino, but since...

    works good on linux

posted by CarlosLint on 11/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
This is a tool that everyone which likes electrical engineering and/or hardware (and often software) hacking needs to have. It will not work on standard RS232 levels, which is somewhat bad, but for that you can buy a usb-serial adapter anywhere in the world...
    Cons:
I think the only con that I might raise is that it don't pack a FT232 IC, which as a friend of mine says, is the best usb-seria...

    pretty good

posted by CarlosLint on 11/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The obvious main pro: it's a freakin' full-seg set-top receiver! Do I need to say more? Other pros are the ability to save content to a thumb/flash/usb drive, beware that full-seg transmissions eat a lot of space and it might get screwed if you use a flash ...
    Cons:
The quality of the material is pretty el-cheapo. The front canvas of the device came already popping off from it! It also feels...

    kinda crappy

posted by CarlosLint on 10/06/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Works as expected (barely) Now due to sata's connector standardization any sata disk fits perfectly into the slot. It's not a craddle type, you can put the disk directly into the computer.
    Cons:
Material used is not very reliable. Two disks I've tried on it both were hard-to-impossible to put in (not enough space). Had t...

    not good as it looks

posted by CarlosLint on 09/04/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Really cheap Well built Real nvidia's IC/core A masterpiece for any gaming computer that you don't want to expend allyour allowance on
    Cons:
It's freakin' NOT linux-compatible, at least with nvidia's closed source driver (which is my weapon of choice), the free driver...
