    Could be brighter

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Good build quality, heavy enough to help with the heat management. Nice mirror finish on the reflector, fits well into suitable flashlights. Does not emit much of visible light. Works with 6volts too.
    Cons:
Current consumption is lower than reported. Could be brighter, not very bright on 6 volts, must test with higher voltages. Quit...

    CHEAP

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
If you need these, these are probably the cheapest there is. In finland these cost a fortune, so it pays to buy these in bulk if needed. Quality seems ok and the packaging is sufficient.
    Cons:
The only con is that these must be ordered from hong kong and if you need these quicky, it takes some time to arrive here next ...

    Bright, small, sturdy

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Small, bright, well built. A good reflector and led-chip. Nice strap. Good o-rings, might be somewhat waterproof. The tail switch cover is orange, so it helps you to find the light. The finisg quality is nice as well...
    Cons:
Strap attachment holes on the flashlight are a bit rough on the edges, might cause tha strap to brake in time. The threads can ...

    Good quality for the price

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The fittings are quite nice, clicks nicely to the camera and the objective. Adjustable length. Cheap, nice quality for the price. Easy to get used to macrophotography.
    Cons:
Can shave off some plastic from plastic mount lenses. Perhaps the lens fittings are a bit rough. Cannot be used with fish-eye l...

    ZAP! or not.

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Small enough to fit in a palm. Zaps nicely, but only sometimes. Can be opened by removing a few screws. This way you can get parts for some other shocking projects.
    Cons:
Build quality not very good. Works intermittently, the zap into the palm of the hand is very weak, almost not noticeable. The s...

    Decent quality

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Nice build quality for the chip, metal parts. Bright, nice light pattern. Small enough for everyday carry. Can be used as a kubotan as well ;-)
    Cons:
The strap is LONG, maybe three times the length of the flashlight. The o-rings are a bit odd, tend to come out when removing th...

    Good deal

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
These are low self discharge batteries, so these are useful for long term use, where the product might not be used for some time. This removes the hassle of reloading your batteries when you'll need them. The capacity seems to be what is promised.
    Cons:
None that I can think of. Not very cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you need the low self discharge, you'll have to pay ...

    Mount still missing

posted by CartDude on 01/27/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Quite sturdy, has o-rings and seems to be somewhat waterproof. Two modes, the strobe mode helps to conserve batteries quite nicely, will flash for few hours.
    Cons:
Mine arrived without the bike mount so I cannot comment on that. Hope dx will send me the missing part sometime soon. No other ...

    Decent batteries

posted by CartDude on 11/27/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
CHEAP! And Panasonic labeled, so you can expect quality. Individually packaged, so easy to store, can be fitted in a smaller bunch if the space requires.
    Cons:
Not much, the wrapping that is directly on the battery is a bit crumpled, so it may cause some trouble if the device, that thes...

    A good emergency lighter

posted by CartDude on 11/27/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Can be a true lifesaver if you're lost and all other fire making equipment fail. Impervious to water, unlike many other fire making stuff.
    Cons:
Requires some skill to use, have not tested on wet stuff. I suppose it takes some time to light anything with this, compared to...
