    Pros:
These guys are relatively inexpensive and they do the job.

    Excellent value

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
These tools are excellent value for the money. Push down on the lock, snap it onto the cable, and spin it round a couple times. It doesn't cut entirely through the cable jacket, so the inner conductors aren't nicked. Bend the cable, and snap! the jacket ...
    Cons:
    Can't think of any, really.

    Good bang for the buck

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
These are inexpensive, solid cards that worked on every system (W98 and XP) I installed them in. The Windows XP Control Panel driver configuration even allows you to set interrupt usage -- none, avoid if possible, or use freely.
    Cons:
Plug-and-pray sees the card as a PCI Simple Communication Controller, not a printer port, so you do need to install the driver ...

    Bright but directional

posted by DrKlahn on 12/14/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Generates very little heat. Good for places where bulb replacement is inconvenient.
    Cons:
Directional beam with little diffusion; more a spotlight than a light bulb.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Very good build quality. At least twice as bright as the 9-LED units. Nice solid shell.
    Cons:
    Haven't seen any.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Just the thing for finding pet urine stains.
    Cons:
Should have a glass UV-pass filter to remove the blue.

    Fine for remotes

posted by DrKlahn on 10/04/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Inexpensive compared to brand name cells. Great for non-critical uses such as remote controls or cordless phone replacement.
    Cons:
Don't believe the mAH rating printed on the cells. Probably not to be trusted for digital camera use.
