    Excellent adaptor

posted by DrewdQueue on 09/15/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * I got these to resupply SKU.121169 which is now sold out * Much thicker/stronger walls than that model, more durable * Better design with 'stop' at the bottom prevents you from screwing a globe in too much and damaging the adaptor like SKU.121169 allows
    Cons:
    - Adds 35mm to length of globe when used, so may be a tight squeeze or over length for some shades. Open ones will be fine.

A good LED bulb at a nice price

posted by DrewdQueue on 09/15/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
    * ~40W incandescent as mentioned by others * Really warm colour, almost yellow, hard to believe it's an LED light * Very smooth spread, no artifacts, rings or hotspots * Doesn't overheat even though it's plastic and has no heatsinks
    Cons:
    - Because of the design, it casts light out 180° so can shadow itself, unlike a fully glass bulb. Works fine in groups, o...

    Simple and cost effective

posted by DrewdQueue on 09/15/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
    * Simple and easy to use * Quick to apply, slap and snap (just like the childrens toy) * Reflects well * One size fits all wrists/ankles, can be worn higher also * Closes firmly, won't rattle around * Can also hold in trousers from chainwheel * No batteries...
    Cons:
    - 'Giant' logo is not reflective and detracts from brightness a little if visible - Not as reflective as 3M tape, etc - Can fee...

    Excellent motion-sensing low-power spotlight

posted by DrewdQueue on 04/12/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
+ Reliable, sensitive sensor, no 'arm waving' needed, in fact my cat activates it walking underneath + Detects movement metres away (when mounted above). + Really quite bright (~200lm?) very suitable for lighting up sheds, carports, entryways, etc. + Go...
    Cons:
    - Light is somewhat cold, not a good choice for nice mood lighting. - Looking at illumination, you get a 'wrong feeling' as it ...

Save money with this LED bulb

posted by DrewdQueue on 04/12/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
+ Lovely warm coloured light, no LED harshness at all. + Really even, wide-angle light spread, no hotspots at all. It can't compete with incandescent for all-around brightness, but it's amazing for this price. + Very low power usage, but as bright as 25W in...
    Cons:
    - No external heatsinks mean this light may tend to overheat, especially in a closed light fitting. A six-hour test in a downw...

    Good LED spotlight, with caveats

posted by DrewdQueue on 04/12/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
+ Good brightness for minimal power usage. + Nice even throw of light, very symmetrical, can't tell it uses 3 emitters. + Aluminum heatsink-fin design means exceptional heat management, hardly heated up at all. + Good price.
    Cons:
    - Outside the spot, brightness dropped off sharply (yes, I know this a spot bulb, but just mentioning it to alert others) - 600...

    Does the job, cheap

posted by DrewdQueue on 04/11/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
+ Good design overall. + Secure fitting. + Excellent value (less than half domestic price). + Was not affected by heat from bulb over several hours. + Allows buying heaps of DX E22 (edison) LED lights, far, far cheaper than in my country. I bought 4 and wa...
    Cons:
    - No design 'stop' to prevent you from screwing bulb in so far the tip can damage the adaptor. Go easy on this. - Plastic wall ...

    Excellent single-cell headlamp

posted by DrewdQueue on 04/07/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Single AA battery required - much more power than coin cells or AAAs. Single double-throw switch (OFF and ON, no tiddly 'modes') Good sized headband, fits my 62cm/24.5" boofhead straight out of the box Incredibly lightweight compared to competitors wi...
    Cons:
Focussing assembly is a little rough in action, and has a short 'throw'. Light spread seems quite uneven, with multiple rings...
