I needed a simple to use RTC for one of my projects. This module definitely fit my needs. BONUS - Includes 24C32 serial EEPROM too! Works, and the additional EEPROM will be handy. The quality of the soldering is very good. there is even a secondary set of t...

    Pros:
You can't go wrong with this one, The price is right, and it's 100% compatible with the more expensive ones out there. it is also a good enough clone to pass the official quality tests, that one was a pleasant surprise. The white silk screening is a really ...
    Cons:
No prototyping area, but this is really not DX's fault.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This has to be one of the best clones that I have come across. The build quality is excellent. It comes with the standard ROM, so it's ready for your sketch. PILES of I./O ports and 4 serial ports. These are essential for acquiring data and reporting it. I...
    Cons:
Only one single con, but it is not a deal breaker. The ICSP connector pins are not labeled.

    Pros:
Perfectly fits into my projects! No more silly wires! I can finally combine some of my 30 year old equipment with my more modern stuff. There are also all sorts of nifty mods that you can do to this one, such as firmware changes.
    Cons:
    None I can think of.

    Pros:
Pretty good, not the fastest card, but is great when you LVM stripe drives on Linux
    Cons:
The connectors to the SATA are fragile, they are also not mounted well and can bend. One drop of ethyl cyanoacrylate (super glu...

    Linux Friendly

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
This particular model is built better than most others. It actually has enough ground traces that RFI does not bother it under Linux. Linux hits the USB harder than windows, and I have had other similar products, with the same jmicron chipset fall apart on ...
    Cons:
I can't think of anything bad to say about this one. It works great!

posted by Edreams on 11/23/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
If you got a laptop wite a dead keyboard and trackpad like I got, then this is a great way to change it into a desktop machine. Works 100% perfectly with my KVM!!! Sturdy construction!!! ***LINUX FRIENDLY***
    Cons:
This adapter is a little bit wide, you are best off to plug it in last, or into a port that is by it's self.

    Excellent device

posted by Edreams on 01/14/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Simply just works super on all my Linux boxes. Helps keep systems cooler with the thinner cables, and allows use newer drives on older hardware and older drives on newer hardware. Even worked with a USB to SATA and USB to PATA bridge!
    Cons:
The connector for the PATA is a little small, and you need to be very careful connecting it to a PATA drive, as you can mis-ali...
