Great Cables But Less Use Than I Thought

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
20 cm length is not too short for most breadboarding or prototype shield applications. Female connection allows you to go right over pins. If you solder your own Arduino Pro / Mini/ Nano headers for prototyping - these cables will come in handy.
    Cons:
Most connections on Arduino or fully populated shields are female - so male to male is infinitely more useful for connection.

100% Mega Compatible and Great Price

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Went through NINE projects with it already and tested about everything - it is 100% Mega compatible with all those extra pin-out. Mega extra IO makes creating new digital projects a dream.
    Cons:
No cons that I can find so far. It just works and keep on working.

    Big Bunch of Ceramic Caps

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Wide assortment of value adequate for most electronics project. Different values are pre-sorted in their own bags. Quality is quite good - no bad cap found so far.
    Cons:
Too few pieces of common de-coupling values. Inceasing number of these valued caps would make the pack much more useful. No la...

    Handy Item for Arduino Prototypers

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Spacing perfect for Arduino Pro / Mini / Nano prototyping. Easy to break into strips of whatever size you want - grip with plier and click. Very easy to solder.
    Cons:
Not gold plated and can oxidize over time. But under active use - such as prototyping - this should not be a problem. Pin sl...

Good Assortment but Missing key values

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Good quality resistors. Wide enough values selection to satisfy most electronic projects. Each strip of resistors is HAND LABELLED with the value.
    Cons:
Cannot find 68 Ohms and 1.5k values. Had to put a couple of them in series and ended up running out of breadboard space.

    Nice Grab Bag of Transistors

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Never without a transistor again. Saved me on three projects already. Presorted packs make it easy to find multiple of same transistor. Shipped in a compact bag. Very nice assortment of common transistors.
    Cons:
No labeling so you will have to read the casing yourself.

    Bright Enough for Most Video

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Used mainly for video work. Four NiMH AA cells fully charged lasts about 5 hours of shooting. Very lightweight. Mounting harness can fit most camcorders.
    Cons:
Limited brightness - better than no added light at all. Will end up using auto or low-light setting on Camcorder anyways if yo...

    Android to Arduino Instantly

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/21/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Easy to program - it is just another serial port! Control your arduino project wirelessly - over bluetooth - from PCs or smartphones - in minutes.
    Cons:
Unclear on 5V connection safety. But so far, I've been using it on 5V with no problem.

All the crazy screwheads you will ever need

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/21/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Many hard to find, or super-expensive-even-if-you-find-it heads included. The narrow two-pin screwhead saved me a couple of times. Handle and attachment sockets are well-made enough for most small-screw low torque tasks.
    Cons:
In north america - the standard Philips heads included doesn't cover all the variations I encountered. But you really should n...

Absolutely Must Have for Arduino Addicts

posted by ExtremeFlyer on 02/21/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
So easy to interface - takes only 3 pins to control everything on the board. Existing library makes displaying up to 8 LED digits, turning the LEDs green or red, and polling the buttons very simple. Can even be daisy chained to more units if you need more...
    Cons:
Minor imperfection in construction - the LED digits are not exactly flush mounted. Nothing that affect what I am using it for....
