    Lossy, but can be useful

posted by FrontRanger on 10/25/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
If they work for your application, they are reasonably priced. Good packaging. Each of the diffusers is individually wrapped, and then there is another bag that holds the five diffusers.
    Cons:
They are plastic, not glass! This, plus the height offset and the black color of the plastic holder probably give quite a bit o...

    Useful for cyclists

posted by FrontRanger on 10/25/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Since both parts of the mount are parallel, this is useful for mounting flashlights to helmets, or pumps to frames. I suppose if your stem is at the perfect angle, you might get away with stem-mounted light.
    Cons:
Straps are stuck together tightly in package, as others have mentioned. But that's just barely a con, in my opinion.

    Perfect product

posted by FrontRanger on 04/15/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This works great for smaller cameras. The legs are long enough to support the camera even with a bit of wind, and flexible enough so that you can wrap them around a tree limb or the like. Small size and good aspect ratio when folded makes fitting in a pocke...
    Cons:
    None.

    None.

    Works well

posted by FrontRanger on 12/28/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I've never seen this tool for this cheap. The tip on mine has stayed sharp.
    Cons:
I agree that it's a little small, as other reviewers have pointed out.

Nice deal, and they work well

posted by FrontRanger on 12/25/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Thin tips for fine work. Fairly easy to solder. I doubt I'll use all ten of them, but I don't mind buying them all because it's a good price.
    Cons:
Felt a bit flimsier than test hooks I've used in professional labs.

    Cordless and cheap

posted by FrontRanger on 12/25/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
There's no grounding cable, as with some other anti-ESD straps, and that's very nice.
    Cons:
My wrist is on the skinny side, and it doesn't have much more range of adjustment. Might be a bit tight on folks with thicker w...

    Alternative to thermal epoxy

posted by FrontRanger on 12/25/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Compared to thermal epoxies, you get an enormous amount of product for the price.
    Cons:
Can be messy. I doubt it is as strong as Arctic Silver, but I can't really quantify that.

Great deal for this type of battery

posted by FrontRanger on 12/25/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Excellent price. I can't comment on cell quality at the moment, but at less than one-tenth the price I have to pay locally, I don't care.
    Cons:
As others have mentioned, the packaging is not perfect. The cells can shift around, possibly creating a closed circuit.

    Rare-Earth Magnets (8mm 20-Pack)

posted by FrontRanger on 12/17/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Great price. Besides the obvious uses, one good application is for the magnet in a cyclometer (the instrument that tracks distance, speed, etc.). They are the right size, and they are stronger than the stock magnets, which allows you to place the magnet far...
    Cons:
They're hard to pry off a flat metal surface. I suppose that's what you get for a strong magnet of this thickness. It might be ...
