Better than a solitaire, that's for sure.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
About four times brighter than a Maglite Solitaire! - But not focusable, it fills a lot, it's not a thrower. For the price and because it runs on a single AAA, the light output is fairly good... so I give it thumbs up! Nice construction, the threads are f...
    Cons:
The switch is very flimsy, threads were dirty and not oiled (as usual, but these last two we can easily mend ourselves!) The l...

Not a bad pointer at all!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Pleasant surprise! Fairly powerful white LEDs, they look like 5MM as well. OK power for the laser diode, even though we all know it's on the low range, but it's not half bad for pointing at things or playing with the cats!
    Cons:
The laser lens or diode itself has some focusing issues since you get some spill on the sides at close ranges, it's not visible...

    Pros:
Cheap, good shape, sharp ends... that's about all I can think of, keep on reading:
    Cons:
The ones I got are bent to one side, the ends don't match... they're rather useless. Construction quality is on the poor end, ...

    Just awesome.

    Pros:
They match perfectly, they're tinned, all leads of equal length, perfectly crimped. You can read "JST" and the pin numbers (1, 2) engraved in the plastic.
    Cons:
A bit on the expensive side, but once you factor in the shipping I think it's pretty good, I'd like to see a 100 pack though.

    Cheap and useful!

posted by GuShH on 09/02/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Cheaper than in stores, fairly the same quality as well. Mostly useful for CAT5 and similar.
    Cons:
The blades fall off quite often, it's just pressed on with a plastic rectangle, glue and cautious use might help here. You're s...

Cheap 5MM LEDs, what else do you want to know?

posted by GuShH on 09/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Cheap, narrow beam, close enough to green in my book! Not the brightest 5mm I've seen at 20mA, but hey look at the price, it's pretty good! So far I've yet to see them degrade in time, I've bought pretty much every kind of LED DX has to offer on this price ...
    Cons:
There are certain impurities from the manufacturing process, therefore the beam is not clean in all of them. I'd love to see pa...

Great little test hooks for the electronics peeps!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Easy to setup, they grab nicely. Rather cheap, price wise. I use them for circuit troubleshooting and prototyping, as well as component testing. They are truly useful, of course they won't ever displace small alligator clips (those have another, yet similar...
    Cons:
Build quality is not the best, expect flimsy and cheap looking / feeling. They're rather smaller in comparison to the ones you ...

For the price you won't be finding anything better

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Great build quality, feels solid, good adjustable dual flame. Despite it's relatively small tank, a full charge lasts quite a long time (unless you play with it all day long)
    Cons:
No locking mechanism. You can't see the level of butane inside.

    60/40 2% Rosin Core Flux

posted by GuShH on 09/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It's 60/40, ideal for hobbyists (ROHS Solder can be a nightmare!) I've been getting some good joints and beads with this solder, mind you I only used it for a couple projects (mainly to test it out)
    Cons:
The cylinders come half full, some with more solder than others. Price is not top notch, I can get these by almost the same amo...

Good value, OK quality - a bit small, but nice.

posted by GuShH on 08/15/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Alligator clip is connected with a banana plug!, overall quality is OK if you factor the price. The measured resistance was within specs in my case.
    Cons:
Cable a bit too small, band a bit on the small side - although it _does_ have to press onto your wrist for proper contact. I su...
