    Decent front-panel unit

posted by JackNF on 07/29/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
An extra 4 USB ports on the front of the case? Nice. Most of these only offer 2. A pretty standard array of features otherwise for this sort of front panel.
    Cons:
To fully use this you'll need *3* sets of USB headers on your motherboard to connect it all, a pair of 9-pin connectors for the...

    Works great in Win7 WMC

posted by JackNF on 03/12/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Plugged it in and Windows 7 detected and set it up automatically, no need to even insert the driver disc that came with it. Works perfectly for tuning in ClearQAM digital stations in Windows Media Cente. Taking me ~20-25 minutes to do a full QAM channel s...
    Cons:
The remote that came with it is pretty much useless. It's an IR remote, but they haven't included an IR receiver to pair it wit...

    Works great

posted by JackNF on 03/06/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Great little 2-bay dock, running a pair of SATA drives in it via the USB 2.0 connection works perfectly. The powered 5-port USB hub is also very much appreciated.
    Cons:
The USB hub *only* operates powered, can't just use it passively when the power switch on the back is turned off.

    cheap junk

posted by JackNF on 07/11/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It's cheap. "Works" with MicroSDHC cards.
    Cons:
File copy speed is HORRID, when it works at all. On cards I can write to at ~10MBs/sec in other readers, this one only does a c...

    Works fine

posted by JackNF on 01/25/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Works fine, even at a distance. Haven't tested how far it'll work, manual claims it's good up to 10 meters but all I need is seven or eight feet and that's working fine. Power-save mode seems to work well, powering down the unit after about 15-20 seconds of...
    Cons:
Build quality could be a little better. It feels rather light and a bit cheap. It's not falling apart or anything, but I certai...

    It works, it's cheap

posted by JackNF on 12/15/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Price cannot be beat for a front panel. I've check and SDHC cards seem to work fine.
    Cons:
What's the point of having two SD card slots if you seemingly can only ever use one of them at a time? Most multi-card readers ...
