    Good, not great

posted by JamesFerguson on 11/14/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Cheap. Less power draw than incandescents. Should be longer lasting if they hold together. Lots of modes.
    Cons:
Build quality: one of my LEDs was detached, and I had to resolder it (fiddly). Not worth going through the return process... C...

Nice lights, kind of manic, ideal for USB power

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Cool little light set, each LED is multi-color, flashes through various shades. They have some sort of circuitry in them which starts out with them all in sync and very quickly they all get out of sync. Their best use to my mind is to dump the crappy batte...
    Cons:
Battery box is junk. I had to bend connectors etc. to get mine to work properly. I can't imagine it would stand too many chan...

It works, it's cheap, it's tiny

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Can't find anything to dislike. Plugged it into XP and Ubuntu machines, and it auto-installed and worked just fine. Supplied driver disk wasn't needed
    Cons:

4 channel, ok, not so fast with 4.

posted by JamesFerguson on 01/02/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
4 channel, fast for 1 or two batteries, suitable for in-car use
    Cons:
Unlike photos, mine came with round pin plug (I need flat, like the photo), so I need an adapter to use it. Beware! Probably ...

    Great lights, poor battery holder

posted by JamesFerguson on 12/19/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Great little lights. Bright, flash in all sorts of ways - slightly manic twinkling. Superb for portable use, e.g. on a bike.
    Cons:
Battery holder / switch is rubbish. It's pretty much a 3 cell holder with a switch and a resistor. My resistor connection t...

Fun, cheap. Beware with small children

posted by JamesFerguson on 12/11/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Not much to say. They're RE magnets... They're superb and strong for putting pictures on the fridge etc.
    Cons:
Because they're thin, they're brittle. That's the nature of RE magnets, so not really a 'con'.

    Excellent, cheap.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Very bright. 2 years ago I bought a luxeon emitter for my mini-maglite, and these are subjectively 75% as bright! Light output is a nice sized spot, decent spill, and then a noticeable ring at about 80 degrees. At this price, the ring can barely be calle...
    Cons:
Light output varies between samples. One of 10 was pretty dim. One was especially bright. Dim one will donate its batteries ...

Does what it says - cheaply!

    Pros:
Not much to go wrong. It's obviously a knock-off, not the real Nokia deal, even though it says Nokia on it. It's more rubberized than standard Nokia plugs. Still, it's just fine.
    Cons:
    None
