    Exactly what you'd expect

posted by Kayvon on 12/02/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Bought this to connect our mp3 player to the car's aux jack. We've had it for a year now and it has outlasted the mp3 player. Very conveniently lengthens to exactly as long as you want it, then zips back down again when you're done using it.
    Cons:
The rewinding "zip" mechanism isn't perfect. It's the same mechanism used in all rewinders of this type and may require a coupl...

A must for DS hinge separations

posted by Kayvon on 12/02/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The price is unbeatable; don't even bother looking elsewhere. These fit perfectly in place of the original DS antenna and mic cables. They're conveniently sold together, which is nice because when one breaks, the other is sure to be broken, also.
    Cons:
Replacing these cables is about as difficult as replacing the top screen, which you'll probably also need to do if the cables w...

    Flexibility--worth the extra dollar

posted by Kayvon on 12/02/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
We have owned this for a year now and it still works great. The original batteries are still installed, although the light is now starting to dim. With fresh batteries, the light is extremely bright. The flexible neck works very well--I can mold it to be ex...
    Cons:
With fresh batteries, the light is perhaps slightly too bright. But the flexible neck allows you to angle the light away from y...

    Must have soldering experience

posted by Kayvon on 12/02/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
These are perfect replacements for DS consoles that have broken or defective L/R buttons. There is very little noticeable different between these and the original DS button once everything is reassembled. Many DS (dis)assembly videos are available on the in...
    Cons:
You must know what you are doing to install these. They are difficult to get to with a soldering iron. (I ended up using hot ai...

    Easy to hold and durable

posted by Kayvon on 12/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    * Nice grip--easy to hold and turn * Perfect size for electronics disassembly. * After weeks of use, the heads still haven't stripped, indicating a good build quality * It's a twofer, in case you lose one
    Cons:
You have to buy two of them, even if you only need one. Not a big deal, though.

Fix that broken switch--do it now!

posted by Kayvon on 12/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
A perfect replacement for a broken DS power switch. Once installed, the DS will work and the replacement switch is completely indistinguishable from the original.
    Cons:
This is different from the original DS part: 1) The pins seem a bit shorter 2) The original DS part had non-electrical pins o...

    Works perfectly; difficult to install

posted by Kayvon on 12/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I have purchased and installed ten of these and never had a single problem. They've all worked flawlessly.
    Cons:
Replacing the upper screen is among the most difficult DS fixes. Only attempt this if you know what you are doing or if you are...

    Great replacement, slightly different feel

posted by Kayvon on 12/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The replacement screen works perfectly and the price is extremely low. As DS repairs go, this is probably the easiest thing to fix.
    Cons:
The surface feels a little different under the stylus than the original DS screen did. The traction feels somewhere between the...

    2-player Blokus for Cheap

posted by Kayvon on 12/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's clearly a knock-off of the popular game, Blokus, but for a fraction of the price. It's portable. The game is easy to learn and explain. Rules are easy to learn from a Google search or watching a video on the web. The pieces have the nice translucent...
    Cons:
Included rules are in very broken English--you'll need to ask a friend how to play or find them online, which is pretty easy. ...

    Shrimp? Seriously??

posted by Kayvon on 12/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    * Looks exactly like cooked shrimp. * Has a fun, rubbery feel to it. Fun to play with. * Comes in a two-pack, so it works well as a gag gift for a couple. * Works as a keychain.
    Cons:
    * The metal-to-rubber joint isn't reinforced, which caused one of these to fall apart. The other is still working fine. * Comp...
