    Every Step You Take...

posted by Nomad1969 on 06/13/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Does the job; simple to use; seems accurate; build quality okay; small and unobtrusive when clipped onto the belt. All in all, I thought it was definitely good value for money.
    Cons:
... so small and unobtrusive that when it was dislodged from my belt, I didn't notice it was gone until I went to check it a fe...

An odd multi-tool for odd jobs

posted by Nomad1969 on 01/08/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's an unusual collection of potentially useful items in a remarkably small package. The pen works, the thermometer (for detecting fever, not room temperature) seems to work okay, and it's hard to go wrong with tweezers and a toothpick.
    Cons:
The knife is blunt and the LED so faint I thought the (apparently non-replaceable) battery might have died.

    Guy Fawkes would be proud!

    Pros:
An excellent mask - extremely comfortable, good build quality, and easily identifiable as V's mask from V for Vendetta (both graphic novel and movie). It actually is big enough for adults (maybe too large for kids, but why should they have all the fun?), th...

    Logical Spork

posted by Nomad1969 on 09/16/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This is probably the perfect design for a spoon/fork combination. As a backpacker, I find it incredibly useful to be able to use one end of a tool to eat lasagna, and the other to eat dessert or to sugar and stir my tea. And this pack of six sells for about...
    Cons:
Though they're sturdy, I have had one break in my pack, and I haven't tried using the knife on anything tougher than cheese.

Far from perfect, but still very useful

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This multitool proved invaluable when I moved house: I used it to open cartons, assemble bookshelves and other furniture, and deal with a range of things that needed to be tightened, loosened, or adjusted.
    Cons:
The screwdriver tips attach to the multi-tool so loosely that they don't work - but they did fit a $2 screwdriver I bought, and...

    BYO Bottle

posted by Nomad1969 on 10/08/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Great price; build quality seems ok: stands up when full, and doesn't leak. When empty, it's light and packs up small enough that I can leave one in a pocket of my backpack in case I need it. Ideal for those of us who hate paying for bottled water.
    Cons:
None, really, except that the pink is rather garish.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Magnifier works. Laser pointer works. Pen is tiny, but it works. UV pen is rather faint, but I'm not sure I'll ever need one. The LEDs aren't very bright, but they're ok. Having batteries that can be replaced (not found in some LED gadgets I could name) is ...
    Cons:
Tried using the two magnifiers together as a monocular, but couldn't get them in focus. And I don't think I'd want to rely on t...

    Just what I needed

posted by Nomad1969 on 09/26/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
This is a good stylus for an iPad or iPod Touch at a fraction of the cost of similar products from other websites. As an added bonus, the pen works perfectly well (and is refillable). Not too heavy, not too flimsy, and long enough not to get lost in my dayp...
    Cons:
Just some quibbles. The pen is a little thinner than I'm used to. It might be even more useful if the stylus tip were on the c...

    Pick a card. Any card.

posted by Nomad1969 on 07/24/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
A great little collection of tools in a package that's small enough to just drop in an organiser pocket of my daypack, large enough to find easily, and cheap enough that I can buy another if I lose or break it and still consider it a bargain.
    Cons:
Very few. The knife could be sharper; I haven't worked out how you're supposed to use it as a protractor (not that I'm ever lik...

Great idea, pity about the execution

posted by Nomad1969 on 07/24/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Nice little package, and the pen worked first time. And with free postage (prompt delivery, too), the price was good.
    Cons:
Flashlight didn't work first time. Batteries present, but may have been flat. Battery compartment easy to open - so easy, in fa...
