    Segger has blacklisted these

posted by Oznog on 02/20/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Well, it does work, IF you use the older DLL and don't need SWD messages (but everyone needs these!)
    Cons:
These are clones, and Segger's firmware blacklists the serial number in the hardware. So you can't install the firmware after ...

    Defective wheel

posted by Oznog on 10/05/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Yes there is a live DPI button. Small round one below the wheel. Took awhile to get used to the feel, then I realized it was great.
    Cons:
Here's the thing: the wheel will fall apart. It's got a shaft of cheap ABS plastic which is all of 0.06in dia that goes into a...

    Nice

posted by Oznog on 06/26/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Contains: Two 35v 470uF electrolytic input caps 5v reg TA7805F, max Vin 35v Atmel ATMEGA 8L LT1262, a 5v-to-12v charge pump, presumably to make 12v for gate drive Three IR2101S gate drivers. Uses floating high sides, the high side can go up to 600v. 12x ou...
    Cons:
Mixed transistors is not directly a problem, but it implies it's a whatever-we-have-on-hand situation. That IS a problem for q...

    I spoke too soon

posted by Oznog on 04/23/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
As I said, it's a stiff shock, and 1000lbs/in seems plausible. It's got 1000lbs/in printed on it.
    Cons:
Here's the thing: this is a spring only. NOT a shock absorber. There is no dampening element inside. I loosened the adjuster...

    They are what they are

posted by Oznog on 03/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
They're tailcaps. About what you'd expect. They glow as stated.
    Cons:
The glow isn't REALLY bright or long lived. Like all these silicone tailcaps, they tear easily. But, it's a 10-pack, so whatev...

    Good, cheap

posted by Oznog on 03/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I don't have any way to measure it, but yeah it's far too stiff to compress by stepping on it. 1000lb/in is plausible.
    Cons:
    None... it's a shock. It's shocking!

    Good only because it's cheap

posted by Oznog on 03/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Cheap. Works. Displays speed and "everything else". Has a dedicated spot on the display for speed, which always reads ok.
    Cons:
I got it set up for wheel diameter and mph vs km/hr, but can't figure out the user interface anymore. There's only two buttons...

    Good!

posted by Oznog on 03/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's a GOOD scale. It was reading the same as my calibrated scale. And it's quite accurate. Can be set to lbs or kg. It does NOT have a "lock-in" feature. Which, for me, is good- I need to measure variable tension and that lock-in of other scales was a...
    Cons:
The CASE being flimsy... but, like I say, the internals There's no swivel on the hook. I wish there was one, I need one for ...

    Good board for many emitters

posted by Oznog on 01/25/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's a standard star outline- not much to say there. The part I should emphasize is that it's got some MAJOR copper coverage on top. Not just the tinned area. This is super-important because the insulating layer isn't exactly a superconductor, so spreadin...
    Cons:
    Nothing at all.

    Great light

posted by Oznog on 01/25/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Well it's certainly BRIGHT. If there was a problem with some people getting an inferior emitter, *I* didn't get one. Head and tailsprings together- neat! Threads are fairly smooth.
    Cons:
I wish it were the absolute minimum size, but it's a bit larger. Well, exactly the dimensions shown though. And this is one o...
