    Surprisingly good

posted by Popup on 08/19/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
I have been using SKU-10597 as cheap throwaway headphones for over a year (I've been through about a dozen of them - they typically last me 3-6 weeks.) But they're sold out. These headphones are significantly bulkier, but they also offer a microphone. And...
    Cons:
The placement of the microphone on one of the ear-pieces is a bit unconventional, but it works. In-ear headphones typically co...

    bright but annoying

posted by Popup on 12/18/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    These lights are pretty bright!
    Cons:
The light has a rather bluish tinge, that I know that some people like, but I find a bit off-putting in a Christmas tree. They...

    Good but ot perfect

posted by Popup on 12/11/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It feels fairly solid and would definitely protect the Kindle pretty well. It's just the right size for the Paperwhite, with openings for the connector and on/off switch.
    Cons:
It DOES NOT incorporate the proper magnets to switch on/off automatically when you open/close the cover! All the 'official' co...

Nice light! Replaces a 100W halogen floodlight.

posted by Popup on 01/12/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The light quality is very nice. The colour temperature is very similar to a Halogen light. (Warmer than SJU54859, but not excessively yellow.) The reflector assembly feels solid, and the silicone seals have a good feel to them. It ought to be fairly weather...
    Cons:
There is no ground connector, and no provision for grounding the assembly. The (very short) wires are hot-glued to the casing ...

Bright, but not very impressive quality

posted by Popup on 06/15/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
The light is indeed very bright. It compares favourably to a 150W halogen work light, but the light colour is visibly bluer (The colour temperature would probably be called 'warm white', but it's nowhere near the comparatively yellow of a (relatively low-po...
    Cons:
The build quality is fairly shoddy. The materials used looks OK, but when it arrived one of the corner mounting screws had come...

    Batteries God - Charger Bad

posted by Popup on 05/03/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The batteries seem to be genuine LSD (Low Self Discharge) NiMH batteries. I haven't actually tested the capacity, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're close to the indicated capacity.
    Cons:
The charger, on the other hand, is an archetypal 'stupid charger', with no switch off whatsoever! I bought one hoping that it ...

    Decent helical sharpener

posted by Popup on 03/21/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This is the cheapest hand-cranked pencil sharpener that I have found that uses a real helical cutting blade - properly called a 'burr cylinder'. (Rather than the straight edge you get on stand-alone 'prism' sharpeners.) The interior seems fairly serious, wi...
    Cons:
The sharpening angle is rather acute. The pencils end up too sharp!

    Pretty good, but not perfect

posted by Popup on 09/16/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Build quality is pretty good. It was a bit of a tight fit the first time, but that's normal. All features are accessible, even the SIM-slot.
    Cons:
The clasp has a strong magnet, and it occasionally interferes with the iPhone's compass. I kept getting the 'compass interferen...

    Good value for money

posted by Popup on 03/12/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Cheap, works well. The sound quality must depend a lot between lots, as mine were perfectly adequate, and lots of people are complaining.
    Cons:
The sheathing of the cables is done with some cheap rubbery plastic, that doesn't like cold. I was wearing it when skiing, and ...
