Perfect for the strange use I wanted it for

posted by Quarn on 06/03/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Bright enough but not too bright. Has an on/off clicky on the head. Goose-neck is easy to position.
    Cons:
May not be bright enough for everyone. Usb connector plug is cream coloured, would have been nicer if black to match the light.

Lovely construction and function for small money

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Looks really good, no signs of cheap construction. Fully functioning calander with day of the week and date.Face is well printed. Second hand sweeps in 1/4 second moves. Can be wound by hand and self winding. Glass rear so you can see the workings. Says it'...
    Cons:
Only small issue was when setting the date it did not respond to button presses but by moving clock through 24 hours the date m...

    Cool effect but very directional.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Easy remote control coloured lighting. Remote works well even with the bulb inside a paper lampshade and with a piece of pipe over it (see below)
    Cons:
I need E14 mount as that is what Ikea lamps use so I had to buy SKU37162 to allow fitting into the lamp. Light is not difussed ...

Does what it's supposed to do for a great price.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This costs 7 times less then a barcode reader bought locally. It's USB so just plug it in and away you scan. Reads codes from brown cardboard, orange paper, large or small. Behaves just like a keybord imput so can scan to Notepad/excel etc.
    Cons:
Does not read far as 58cm as stated but still works well out to 30cm which is fine for me.

Great cable at a bargain price.

posted by Quarn on 05/23/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Robust construction with the connectors looking very tough. Cable has old style woven covering which I really like the look of. Plastic caps WERE on my one!
    Cons:
Looks a bit too large when plugged into a tiny Panansonic SD60 video camera. But I would rather tough and large instead of smal...

Great product but a little slow to write.

posted by Quarn on 05/23/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Easy to use. Insert SD card, insert into camera. I now have 16GB SD card instead of 8GB CF in my camera. At ISO100 and RAW+L-jpg I have 965 shots! If I switched to just jpeg that would be thousands of images (but RAW is too useful)
    Cons:
It seems from my tests to write at about 3mb/sec so it can take a few seconds to write an image to the card. This is not a big ...

Well made for a great price

posted by Quarn on 08/03/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Well made with metal lens and camera mount, locking pin. Geared rail for extension adjustment and scale on the other rail. Tripod mount underneath. Bellows material is cloth based not cheap plastic.
    Cons:
No electrical contacts so you will have to set your f-stop with the lens on the camera, hold your DOF preview button to close d...

Tricky with a Sigma EF-500DG Super

posted by Quarn on 04/16/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Quick and easy to use, however it's taken me over a week to get it to work with my Sigma due to a unintuitive setting on the flash. http://flashzebra.com/tips/supersigmamanualmode/index.shtml saved my bacon as I would never have figured it out myself.
    Cons:
No sync cord (which you do get with sku 13089) and the problem mentioned above with regards to the Sigma flash.
