3W Nice Coloured Warm White LED

posted by RBLAND on 12/02/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
-Nice and warm! The warmest LED I have seen thus far! -Very comparable to the colour warmth of a standard 50W halogen. -Decent and bright, I use it to light up a tree outdoors. -Quality seemed good -3W as stated 250mA @ 12V AC
    Cons:
-Runs over current on DC 12V supply ~400-600mA on ~12V DC. Gets VERY hot in not long. LEDs won't last long if driven this way. ...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
My one I ordered this August came with a driver built in. So did my sisters bf's one which he ordered 2 weeks before me. Not sure what DX is doing with its drivers! Bright as crazy! Especially on zoom I also modded mine out with a P7 LED with a lot of m...
    Cons:
The damn LED is just sitting in the flashlight with! Cooler colored blue tinge compared to the P7, has a much more bluer LED

True Rated Capacity, Definatly no protection

posted by RBLAND on 08/04/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Just got mine today. -Did a discharge test at ~1.66A for 1.5 hours. (Basically 2.5Ah capacity on on the dot, which is QUITE GOOD for 1.66A current drain) Battery did get warm! In regards to the other reviews - these are NOT protected -Not much voltage drop ...
    Cons:
-It looks like they are NOT protected under full discharge test - was expecting this - No positive *bump*. A blob of solder on ...

Awesome long range remote (mode modded)

posted by RBLAND on 06/04/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Excellent, Works well as described on 230V NZ. Build quality looks good. Nothing poor. Will probably need modifications to run at 110V, which was a simple change of a capacitor (as described in the comments at the bottom)
    Cons:
None! Markings on top are a bit smudged, but who cares right!
