    Very nice, cheap headphones

posted by Rabble on 06/02/2014 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
These are incredibly cheap, and quite reasonable sound. They are also comfortable and fold completely flat (safe in a suitcase, briefcase or laptop bag). They do actually reproduce the bass end well -- the andante from Beethoven 4 sounds great!
    Cons:
The cord seems robust, but it is permanently attached, so repair or replacement would be awkward. The plastic arch between th...

    Nice little headphones

posted by Rabble on 06/02/2014 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Both speakers can be slipped off the headpiece which allows you to use them in other ways, and makes them easy to pack in a suitcase without fear of damage. The cable disconnects completely, so replacement and repair are quite straightforward.
    Cons:
The headpiece (as it comes) leaves the speakers at odd, uncomfortable angles relative to the head; this disrupts the "seal...

    Excellent little torch!

posted by Rabble on 10/14/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Excellent little flashlight. It is constructed solidly and has rubber rings at all the joints to keep water out. I haven't immersed it in water to see how it would cope, but I expect that it would withstand a reasonable amount of water. The rubber rings ...
    Cons:
The battery isn't as easy to get as C-size or AA-sized batteries. Still, it does its job!

    Very good!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Very *very* cheap way to get a serial port on a machine that doesn't have one. The case disassembles quite easily, so it would be relatively simple to just remove the pcb and embed the hardware into a DIY project in order to provide a TTL level serial port
    Cons:
It *is* only TTL level, and if you need a proper RS232 port (one that can cope with or drive at normal voltages) this isn't the...

    It's a good buy

posted by Rabble on 10/04/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It works as advertised and is a decent price. CF disks may not be the latest and greatest technology, but they tend to be robust and well supported. Good delivery time (about a week), and well packed.
    Cons:
    Nothing so far.

    Excellent little powersupply

posted by Rabble on 10/04/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It has a standard socket for a powercord, so it is suitable for virtually any country. 4A supply, so there is plenty of current available. It is also reasonably small for a 4A supply.
    Cons:
    None.

    Great mouse, with minor caveats

posted by Rabble on 08/21/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The mouse is recognised in a few seconds; Windows 7 needs a few seconds to install drivers, and it's picked up straight away in Mac OSX. Best of all, all of the multi-touch things and both left and right click work out-of-the-box in Linux! The included sof...
    Cons:
The mouse has no middle-click. Not really an issue, just something to know about. It has only one physical button, sending rig...

Much better than the Cisco/Linksys unit it replace

posted by Rabble on 08/01/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The modem/router is quite simple to use. It is based on Linux and provides much more flexibility than the WAG54G2 it replaces and a very good price. Definitely better than most of the commonly available modems.
    Cons:
The menus are clear enough, but there is *no* descriptive text for various option within them. I guess the wisdom is that &quo...
