    Works with Microdrive

    posted by Smashbot on 10/23/2007

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Inexpensive CF to IDE converter. Simple and works. Well made board.
    Cons:
Only one slot. CF cards are not ideal for frequent write operations. Use a microdrive in this situation.

    posted by Smashbot on 10/23/2007

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Well made and works well. Supports most current PC's. Can pinpoint a problem is a few minutes that would otherwise take much time.
    Cons:
There is no info on the USB and D25 port. I have yet to find what that does. Manual is fairly basic.

    Mount can be upgraded

    posted by Smashbot on 10/23/2007

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It is a great light. Modes cover all needs for night cycling. Batteries are easy to procure. A lot of light for the price.
    Cons:
The mount broke on the first trip. The screws only just grip. Battery life on high is disappointing. Consider using rechargeable.

    Simple driver for LED lighting.

    posted by Smashbot on 10/22/2007

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
These are cheap and seem to work well. Work very well as a driver for 8-10 standard led's. Comparable output to around 1 watt torch.
    Cons:
Poor effeciency at lower than design load. Require some electronics skill to use in a circuit.

Jaw dropping light - Let there be light!

    posted by Smashbot on 10/22/2007

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Good build quality. Jaw dropping performance. It is a great light for security situations, for example checking on the outside of home at night.
    Cons:
Its draws a lot of power from the 6 AA batteries. But you only buy this kind of light when you know what you need.
