Gets the dents out - eventually!

posted by StNz on 06/13/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I had a really beat up motor cycle tank that was impossible to panel beat due to the location of the dents and the confines of the shape. This glue and pull system worked a treat - but did take a could of hours and maybe up to 100 applications to finish (O...
    Cons:
Comes with two glue sticks - but standard ones seem to do the trick. 2 is not enough for a pile of dents. Glue gun is a 12v c...

Great sensor - easy to retro fit

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
This PIR does the usual 12v NC connection thing. Very well labelled connections, and very easy to retro fit into a legacy alarm system, or to build your own.
    Cons:
    None to mention.

Nice controller - basic but just what you need!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Very easy to hang off an Arduino and to knock up a Sketch to do bit shifting. Runs well down to a delay of around 3(ms?) between pulses where it will just hum.
    Cons:
The ULN2003 can drive 7 outputs - only four are supplied here and the motor connector obscures the pins for the other 3. Not a...

    Great mini shield breadboard/prototype combo

posted by StNz on 04/10/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Nicely priced prototyping board with an option to use a mini breadboard as well on a shield form factor that plugs straight in. I'll be grabbing several more to have on hand.
    Cons:
I don't think the headers provide for further stacking of shields - this board would be the top one. Push buttons are basic, ...

Great replacement for old rusting case...

posted by StNz on 04/10/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Excellent replacement for an old alarm housing when refurbishing the house. Internally it has a Siren, an LED Strobe flasher array, single LED and tamper switch - each of which can be connected as required. I didn't use the single LED, although may retro...
    Cons:
Didn't have a big enough void to include a Gel battery for external power if suply is cut and case opened. Not a biggie - coul...

    Excellent product - great price

posted by StNz on 04/10/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I'm new to the Arduino world having only played with a R-Pi based Alamode, but moving on to this is a logical step, and the price is very good. I program it from a Pi and power it via a USB hub. Seems to have the exact form factor required, and is connect...
    Cons:
    None to report.
