    Bright little light

posted by StupendousMan on 09/05/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Bright. I don't have measuring equipment, but the 120-140lm quoted in the description sounds believable, and not the usual hyperbole. The beam pattern is flood with no hotspot. The light doesn't get as hot as you'd think with 7w, it probably doesn't use th...
    Cons:
The installation bolt is 10mm thick, but the thread is not standard M10. Might be 3/8" UNF, or one of the rarely used M10 ...

    Good and cheap

posted by StupendousMan on 09/05/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Works as expected: Glows bright at 12 volts, does not light up at 4 volts. The tester end is a sharp point, which is better than the usual screwdriver end (in my opinion). This kind of pen is more convenient to use than a multimeter, when you only need t...
    Cons:
The light is incandescent, not a led (as claimed by the description currently (pun intended)). Cannot (or shouldn't) be carrie...

    A serious self defense weapon

posted by StupendousMan on 09/05/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This is definitely not a toy. I tried to break one, by hitting log house walls, but damage to the plastic was only cosmetic. It also made nice dents in dry timber. Works like brass knuckles. Intuitive to use, just punch normally, requires no special trai...
    Cons:
Since this is essentially half the size of traditional brass knuckles, hitting something at full power will hurt your palm. ...

I really like it, my favourite spork

posted by StupendousMan on 01/10/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I have many camping spoon-knife-combinations (also called sporks) but I like this one the most. Smaller than military sporks, can even be used as a (rather large) keychain. One piece simple design makes it easy to clean in the field, as well as indestructib...
    Cons:
Doesn't include a can opener. The fork is not good if you are in a hurry, as you can see in the product pictures. The reach is ...

    A nice spacesaver for campers

posted by StupendousMan on 01/10/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Most importantly: It doesn't leak. Folds into a small packet, and there is room in the middle to store something, such as sugar cubes. Machine washable. Seems well made, will probably last a long time.
    Cons:
Like others have said, it rattles when folded. The hanging clip is in the lid, which attaches fairly well to the cup, but I wou...

    My favourite lighter

posted by StupendousMan on 01/10/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
A good design and well made. I prefer this to a zippo. Excellent value. Nice size, I use it as a keychain. Still holds a decent amount of fluid, and keeps it in thanks to tight tolerances and O-ring on cap. Flat bottom, can act as a candle.
    Cons:
Slow to open due to threaded cap, probably annoying for smokers who need their fix. Not windproof.

    Good multipurpose nylon rope

posted by StupendousMan on 12/22/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Good quality nylon rope. Paracord-type construction, with an outer sheath and inner strands, all nylon. It is strong, I believe the 140kg rating to be true. The rope feels softer than 550 paracord, which makes it great for wrapping knife handles. I uploade...
    Cons:
You can get proper, military grade 550 paracord, which is rated at 249kg, for the same price. This should be a lot cheaper.

    Good little knife

posted by StupendousMan on 12/22/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Knife is good quality. I ordered three, and all came sharp with a nice finish. Despite the very small size and weight, the knife feels solid. Easily strong enough for everyday use, and a good backup knife for camping and such. The handle is good for a skele...
    Cons:
Bad sheath, doesn't hold strong enough to keep as a neck knife. Fake CRKT and Doug Ritter markings. It would be better with no...

    Sturdy short blade knife

posted by StupendousMan on 12/19/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
4mm thick everywhere, except for the edge of course. Good design, fits your hand quite well. Pretty sharp out of the box. Small enough to carry in your pocket. Edge is only 54mm long, which probably makes it legal to carry in some countries.
    Cons:
Comes in a Böker+ box, that even contains warranty registration instructions in german and english and the knife says "Böker yo...

    Heavy duty knife

posted by StupendousMan on 12/19/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Very solid knife, made out of 5mm thick steel! Serrated edge on the blade's back, where it doesn't get in the way. Smaller than the average survival knife, with a slim cord wrapped handle and a pretty low profile sheath make this easy to carry in comparis...
    Cons:
The handle feels a bit thin for someone with large hands, such as me. I will re-wrap the handle with a different weave to fix t...
