Works, contacts were loose in mine.

posted by VintagePC on 03/01/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Cheap, reasonably priced battery for older Panasonic cameras.
    Cons:
Contacts were rather loose, so the battery wouldn't make contact and power up in my camera. I had to take a thin blade and use ...

Does the job as a bench supply

posted by VintagePC on 09/03/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Low-price bench supply. I tinker with PCs a lot an occasionally find myself needing a 12v power source that can provide some current. Rather than dig up a PC power supply, this fills the gap nicely.
    Cons:
Light; Very light for a higher-current supply. Not sure if I'd trust this to continuous duty, as one thing that I find holds tr...

Fine pointed pens - Just what I wanted!

posted by VintagePC on 09/03/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Fine 0.3 mm tip. Those are _really_ hard to get; all I've seen are 0.4 and those cost an arm and a leg! I've been looking for something like these and they did not disappoint. My writing style remains legible with these pens, as opposed to larger gel pens ...
    Cons:
Small ink resevoirs. The ink sticks are narrower than most gel pens I've seen here, but at five bucks for a box of twelve, I'm ...

    Exactly what I needed!

posted by VintagePC on 09/03/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Tiny, fast. I bought this to transfer data from/to my phone MicroSD card and do advanced things like partition it, which causes issues when done via the phone's USB connection. Also makes a great tiny USB drive if you leave a MicroSD card installed in it. ...
    Cons:
Tiny - Be careful you don't lose it (but at this price, who cares??!?)

    Cons:
    - some edges are sharp. A quick polish can fix this. - Locking screw doesn't lock- contacts plastic before locking. Can be eas...

    Time-waster for sudoku lovers!

posted by VintagePC on 08/17/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Soooo many features... it has 8 levels of difficulty, you can enter your own puzzles (and it will check your solution), and you can even fill in more than one number in a box if you have an uncertainty in your puzzle. Even gives up to 4 hints per puzzle if...
    Cons:
Needs fresh batteries to get a bright backlight, and needs strong lighting to play without it. Takes AAA batteries, and probabl...

    Shhhh... do not disturb!

posted by VintagePC on 08/17/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Good seal for mounting PC fans to your case. I can't feel the fan vibrations anymore, nor do I hear them. Note that the air moving over the fan grille still makes some noise, and you can't do much about that except lower your fan speed.
    Cons:
If you have rigid metal/nylon screws holding your fans in, you'll still transmit noise and vibrations to your case. Ideally, pa...

    Good buy for the hobbyist!

posted by VintagePC on 08/17/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Sturdy construction, heat-resistant plastic. I was worried the plastic would deform when soldering wires to the tabs at the top, but it held up! Sturdy little hooks work well even for closely spaced leads.
    Cons:
Different colours might be a nice feature, but I used differently coloured wire for each hook, so as long as you have some syst...
