    Very bright, very hot!

posted by ambientmind on 09/19/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Very bright output and small form factor (for being 20w!) Runs well off of 18-20v as stated, 800 lumen claim seems to be right on. Fun to say you have an 800 lumen led! Low amperage consumption.
    Cons:
Produces TONS of heat! Not sure what the heatsink requirements or operating temperatures should be, that info would help. No dr...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Boards come assembled with wires attached, no tiny output wires to solder. current regulation seems to be good, I have used these with a variety of different batteries, and it works well with all of them. I really like the fact that it has such a wide input...
    Cons:
the wire leads are very tiny and can pull off the boards rather easily. but just be careful during the install, and all will be...

    Neat little light

posted by ambientmind on 08/26/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Lots of colors to choose from, small form factor, fits most standard lamps. Dimming function is nice. Good for an accent light.
    Cons:
Output isnt what I expected, I use it in a hanging light above my desk and it gives enough to type at night, but its mostly a s...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
A very nice flashlight with great output. The five modes are nice, with high being very bright. the switch works well, and the whole light is very easy to take apart for upgrades/cleaning. With the optional strike bezel, this thing looks mean! The anodizing...
    Cons:
My only gripe with the flashlight is the spring that contacts the negative end of the battery. The end of it is so sharp it che...

    Great Pocket light!

posted by ambientmind on 08/26/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This flashlight is very bright. It can use one or two AA batteries, for two you need the included extension tube. The build quality is nice, the body is threaded well and the emitter is well centered in the aluminum reflector. The bezel is very sharp, and t...
    Cons:
Personally I think the extension piece makes the flashlight look ugly, but it works. The two strobe modes are a bit redundant. ...

    Great value for the money

posted by ambientmind on 06/23/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Uses commonly available AAA batteries, rugged construction, glass lens. Rear clickie works well, and anodizing seems to hold up well. Very bright out of the box. Can be used as a candle by unscrewing the top reflector housing.
    Cons:
I bought two of these at the same time, and one has a slightly purple beam and the other a nice white. Also, the purple beam is...

    Pros:
solid construction, nice light output. easy to use twist switch, and the whole light is very lightweight. nice even beam, outputs about 55 lumens with a good battery.
    Cons:
the batteries almost cost more than the light does, but what can you do? a clickie switch would be nice, but not possible in th...

    Pros:
great light output in any level of light! for using one AA battery, this light packs a punch! once i fixed the flickering (read post below) the output went up to about 65-70 lumens! nice beam with a good spot and blended spill. easy to carry around, i use i...
    Cons:
less than perfect out of the box, requires some fixing to get it right. but they are easy to do and will only take all of 5 min...

    Great Light!

posted by ambientmind on 04/19/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Great light output, i use this light with the ultrafire 3.6v rechargeables. not a huge difference between the two modes, i'd say the low mode dims about 30% from high. the beam is great, very focused, a great distance light, with plenty of spill around it. ...
    Cons:
rear clickie switch requires more than usual effort to turn on and off, and is sort of loud for a switch. the battery tube is a...
