Great little adapter - Windows, Ubuntu, OSX...

    Pros:
Works brilliantly with various flavours of Windows and Ubuntu 12.04 - Ralink 2870 chipset. DX don't mention this at all, but a driver for OS X 10.5-10.7 can be downloaded from ralinktech.com
    Cons:
OS X support is a little odd; Ralink's configuration utility needs to be started to get it to connect to an access point, but t...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Bites harder than I expected, especially with fresh batteries.
    Cons:
May not be able to convince your friends to click it if they're used to better quality pens - it looks and feels cheap, so if y...

    Works beautifully

    Pros:
Really *really* cheap modchip and programmer. To get cheaper, you'd need to go for WiiFree on a free sample chip - but then, you'd have trouble building a programmer for less than the cost of this complete kit (note: at the introductory price DX *had* this ...
    Cons:
You need to wave a soldering iron and screwdriver at your Wii - which is not for the faint-of-heart. It took me a couple of mon...

    Plugs straight into motherboard

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
No need for a data cable (but it'll still take up a drive power connector).
    Cons:
    None, really.

    Cheap, does the job

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Cheap replacement shell for DS. Easy enough to install if you've had this kind of gear apart before and can figure out how it all fits together. Finish was quite good for a knock-off shell at a bargain price.
    Cons:
Quality of the plastic is *not* the same as the original shell, but it's adequate for the task. No instructions, so you're on y...

I can't believe how cheap this was

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Cheap, does exactly what it's supposed to. No surprises.
    Cons:
None that I can think of. Some might find the lack of mounting hardware a problem, but I think it increases flexibility while k...

Okay quality, great price, rewireable as crossover

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Dirt cheap! Quality is better than I'd expected at that price.
    Cons:
Contacts not gold plated, but if that's likely to be an issue in the environment you're using it in then you really ought to be...

    Works great with R4

posted by arsehat on 08/20/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Good quality, reliable card. Held off reviewing until it could be tested thoroughly.
    Cons:
Speed is not quite as good as some other more expensive cards, which shows in a *very* few games on the R4DS or M3 Simply, but ...
