Very good! Much better than 30-pin variant

posted by bilious on 04/08/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Physically, the dock has a good build quality with a solid metal Lightning connector, a decent heft and a nice, uniform glossy black finish. The phone docks steadily with a good connection. 3.5mm plug adds a lot of support to the gripping of the phone. Inc...
    Cons:
None. OK, one - the lightning cable doesn't insert fully into the back and leaves a little bit of the metal connector exposed (...

Quite terrible. Likely to damage your phone.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Has two USB ports which do provide electricity. UK plug of acceptable build quality, and fits into genuine Apple sockets.
    Cons:
This thing basically SCREAMS out RF of it, and has ultra-dirty voltage. The voltage is so bad that it affected the operation of...

Solid construction, but not genuine Apple

posted by bilious on 04/08/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Product is the standard size of an Apple charger. Externally, the printing and build is of good quality. Says that it is an Apple charger on the printing.
    Cons:
Internally, evidently not an Apple charger. Contains a piece of metal to add weight. Exposed/worn mains voltage wiring. Grou...

Good quality dock; some audio crosstalk issues

posted by bilious on 03/04/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Physically, the dock has a good build quality with a solid metal Lightning connector, a decent heft and a nice, uniform glossy black finish. The phone docks steadily with a good connection.
    Cons:
The dock contains a circuit board that performs cable conversion from 30 pin to 8 pin. The PCB that holds the required circuitr...

Good replacement for official Apple devices, sleek, well built

posted by bilious on 02/06/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Replaces functionality of two Apple devices - the Apple SD card reader (which does not read Micro SD), and the Apple USB Camera Connector. Connector is well constructed. And the lightning connector is very study and made of metal.
    Cons:
The SD slot is very tight, and I had to shave it a bit so that a paper label on the SD didn't get torn.

    Fun case, useful hidden feature

posted by bilious on 02/06/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Case fits OK onto iPhone 5. Adds about as much bulk as you would expect from a case masquerading as a camera. The camera lens part pops out with a bit of coaxing, and can definitely be used as a stand if you want to watch a video with your phone.
    Cons:
The side walls are not properly perpendicular, and so there's a little floppiness there. It's not a big issue. The silicone is...

Good battery - nice design, fairly sturdy, nearly-true rated capacity

posted by bilious on 02/06/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The battery power pack is about the same size as an iPod touch or Apple iPhone, with similar stylings - glossy black front, alumnium back case. The rated capacity is 20W (4000mAh @ 5v), and I would guess the capacity is approaching that, but not actually th...
    Cons:
An indicator light continuously blinks when a device is using power - this is very annoying, but can be covered up with a dab o...

Similar to Apple Product, some let downs

posted by bilious on 11/28/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Fits well into the official Apple iPhone charger (with detachable duckheads). Retractable pins move freely and smoothly and lock into place. The duckhead can also work as a plug for chargers etc that use a "shotgun" IEC-C7 style connetor plug. I...
    Cons:
Colour is slightly off the official Apple white. Duckhead lacks the traditional fuse seen in most British plugs, which probabl...

Just like the Apple one, only better

posted by bilious on 11/28/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Works just like the Apple adapter, only better. Connects directly to the iPad, and downloads a variety of card types into the photo roll. Very convenient for on the road, especially if you've got a DSLR camera and want to post pictures to social media. The...
    Cons:
Unless you're using the extension cable provided (which is a bit flakey) you may have to remove a case to use this. The build ...
