    Not a survival tool

posted by bkrakowsky on 05/28/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It can be a handy thing to have in your computer bag, or glove box. the handiest tools are the bottle opener and the mini screwdriver.
    Cons:
Magnifying 'glass' is very poor quality. Red LED light is dim. Compass does no point North. Carabiner clip is misleading, it ha...

    Great for the price

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The biggest pro is the price. I work in film and the cheapest I've been able to find similar headsets locally is $40. The $40 are more comfortable, but the clarity is about the same, and the $40 are about the same build quality too, since they didn't last m...
    Cons:
Not the most crystal-clear sound quality, but I've had no complaints from people who I've communicated with through it. Not th...

A good idea, but not the best execution

posted by bkrakowsky on 04/04/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
-When you run out of lighter fluid you can still use the sparks to light a fire -Easier to use than a flint as it carries its own fuel
    Cons:
-The plastic on the sides of the flint get in the way, making it difficult to use. I ended up with a lot of plastic shavings -Y...

Barely works. There must be a better option

posted by bkrakowsky on 03/04/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
The camera is really small and can fit almost anywhere. The range was good enough too, went through the floor of the house. The IR LEDs do not produce visible light the way some do, and do illuminate close areas (although, the focal point is about a foot aw...
    Cons:
The camera gets quite hot when in use, seems fishy. I couldn't even get it to work with the receiver it came with--I used the r...

Made me laugh several times my first day

posted by bkrakowsky on 03/04/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
The sensitivity is quite good. It is IR, not a light sensor. I recorded a funny song on it, laughed at myself, then laughed when my mark set it off, then laughed again when she set it off a second time after hiding it in a place where I was intended to trig...
    Cons:
When it is set off, it repeats again quickly. It would be nice if there was more of a delay so you don't have to hear the same ...

Plug it in, it gets warm

posted by bkrakowsky on 03/03/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It's cute, and a fairly unique NMBC item.
    Cons:
It doesn't stay warm very long, nor does it get too hot. As people have said, the plug placement is poor so it can't charge whe...

    Potentially handy, but akward.

posted by bkrakowsky on 02/20/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Price can't be beat. Saw portion is well made. I don't like being without some sort of knife, and this is one that can go in my wallet for bars that frisk.
    Cons:
Really easy to cut yourself using it. Not really able to provide much leverage for the wrench bits. Can't use an automatic knif...
