    Small Sun - well deserved

posted by cadocado on 04/18/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Incredible amount of light. This will win the 'who's got the biggest' competition for a while. If your eyes are used to normal daylight, and you shine this baby into a darkened corner, you don't need to adjust - it is as bright as sunlight. I am fairly cer...
    Cons:
You need at least one 18650. 5 modes is too much. hi-mid-low is good though. It really needs that last 'low' mode because you m...

    Useful, a bit heavy

posted by cadocado on 02/11/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It gives a lot of light when you need it, but it conserves the battery when you need less light. It has both beam and flood in one light, which makes it very useful. It takes AA batteries. I use NiMH cells and they last quite some time.
    Cons:
It's a bit heavy. It is not waterproof. It may be sensitive to dust. The lens is plastic and may scratch.

    Good powerfull efficient adapter

posted by cadocado on 08/23/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It works. It runs my Arduino with ease.
    Cons:
It buzzes when it works. The buzz seems to be dependent on the load. Perhaps some feedback from the arduino. Odd, I would thin...

Lots of light, a bit warm and a bit yellow

posted by cadocado on 07/30/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It is cheap, and it doesn't get silly hot. It didn't burn out in the first week (like another lamp I got). As a matter of fact, i't's still working (owned it for a week now).
    Cons:
It is a bit yellowish-white. It has no protector or diffusor for the LEDs - they are bare.

    Works as advertised

posted by cadocado on 07/30/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It works in Linux. No driver needed, just plug it in and you get a new serial port (/dev/ttyUSB0). It works perfectly.
    Cons:
The USB cable that came with it was a joke. It didn't connect the device. I think it was a cable to charge gadgets, not to actu...

    Nice gift, unusual gimmick

posted by cadocado on 08/05/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Nice little gimmick that responds to UV radiation. Put it in UV light, the beads change colour. Remove it from UV light, the beads turn white. Useful for - testing sunglasses - testing suncream - warning for UV light - Nice gift
    Cons:
Cons: Does not give a strong indication of the strength of the UV light. It'd be nice if blue meant 'there is UV but it's OK a...

    Is the real thing

posted by cadocado on 06/04/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Even if it is not the real thing, you could be forgiven to think that it is. It says 'Apple' all over it, inluding the packaging. It could well be from the factory that produces these things for Apple and decided to sell some on the side. The magnets are st...
    Cons:
The price. It's the apple price. I'd expect cheaper but the Ipad does need a cover! The on/off magnet is a little strong. It is...

    Well worth

posted by cadocado on 06/04/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Price-performance is excellent. It looks smart and expensive. The aluminium finish is stylish, the wire is good quality and it's a single strand, not dual wires like you see in cheap earplugs. Good noise insulation. But above everything, the biggest plus is...
    Cons:
The added blue&pink silicone adapters are ugly and they're a different shape than the original whites. I can't see why they...
