    Decent Camera Grip

posted by cblue on 06/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This is a decent camera grip; all the buttons function (shutter and AE lock). The battery bay can take the regular Nikon batteries as well as AA batteries. The camera recognizes the number and type of batteries present. The unit fits and communicates with m...
    Cons:
The grip feels very light and plastic. The shutter button doesn't function exactly as the normal shutter does. The "feel&q...

    Cheap Good Batteries

posted by cblue on 05/01/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These are good quality batteries. I use them in a camera flash unit which demands very high current loads and the batteries hold up fine.
    Cons:
The higher capacity rating batteries do not seem to have THAT much more juice. In fact, I can't tell that they have any more ju...

    A testamate to DX service

posted by cblue on 05/01/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I ordered this quite a while ago and received a DOA. The infrared part in front wasn't working and you couldn't point at anything on the screen. The reason this is written under the "pro" section is that DX shipped me a replacement unit and even ...
    Cons:
I received a DOA at first, but had it replaced. It doesn't come in any type of meaningful packaging. (Plastic baggie)

    Cheap Good Batteries

posted by cblue on 05/01/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These are well made good batteries. I have used the AA size and they are just as good as the department store brand in terms of capacity, fitment and charge cycles. I have no complaints at all.
    Cons:
Not really a con, but I can't seem to tell if the 1100mAh capacity AAA size batteries actually have more juice than the 900mAh ...

    It is what it is!

posted by cblue on 01/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It is made of solid looking metal, I don't know if it is stainless. The floppy part flaps freely. The threads are clean and screws easily into a tripod mount. It is what it is; good, strudy quality.
    Cons:
The length of the post could be longer. This isn't really a con as the dimensions are posted and I should have known better, bu...

    Great replacement eyecup

posted by cblue on 01/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
This is almost an identical replica to the Nikon Dk-20 cup. I was expecting quite a bit of difference in quality but there honestly isn't. The fix on the camera is tight and snug. The rubber doesn't smell (unlike some other cups I've bought). DX has done go...
    Cons:
The cons I'm about to list are honestly nit picking and from direct comparison to my (broken) authentic, DK-20. The rubber isn'...

    I love this.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I own two of these now, it's so great. This is VERY similar to a much more expensive strap with a similar logo. I won't name names, but I'm sure you can figure it out. After seeing both straps side by side there IS a slight difference, but nowhere near enou...
    Cons:
The expensive competitor to this strap offers a "tripod D-ring" (google it) for use with a tripod quick release. You ...

Great little mouse to carry around

posted by cblue on 01/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I've bought a few of these in the past and they are a great little mouse to carry in your bag. The quality seems decent and it works on any reasonable surface. The buttons click with good positive feel. The cord retracter is adjustable which is nice to keep...
    Cons:
It is quite small, which is great as a convenience feature, but makes is quite uncomfortable to use regularly. I keep it in my ...

    It is what it is.

posted by cblue on 01/04/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Good build quality and accurate white balance measurement. I realized after I bought a whole set of these that I usually shoot in RAW, which means white balance is a non-issue. The cap is even easy to remove with a deep hood on your lens.
    Cons:
The white balance is a touch on the cool side, which isn't really a problem because it atleast gets you in the right ballpark.
