Great value, super bright and really nifty

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Really cheap! Surprisingly bright (you wouldn't want to look directly at the beam). Has a "constant on" switch as well as a "push to light" switch. Small and unobtrusive, won't take up much valuable space. Batteries still going strong af...
    Cons:
I really can't think of any, except that when your friends see it, they'll be begging for one too!

    Not just for the iPhone

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Not just for iPhone - great for other handsets and similar gadgets. The packaging is quite attractive. Good value.
    Cons:
Plastic tools seem like they might break easily. No T6 screwdriver installed, which is a pain if you don't already have one.

    These are great

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Useful for lots of small cleaning/dusting jobs, not just keyboards. Gets into the nooks and crannies easily. Soft brushes.
    Cons:
Fibers come loose if you get the brush wet, so best only used for dry applications. Build quality is not great, especially the ...

    A good spare or replacement

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Works great on my Wii. Ideal if you've lost/broken your sensor bar or can't be bothered with the trailing wire. Also good for using your Wiimote as a PC "mouse". Checked LED position with my camera and they look pretty much the same as the officia...
    Cons:
The blue LED is too bright and can be distracting (you can always cover up with a piece of black tape as I do). Battery life no...

Well presented, bargain priced and work well

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Not a single dead cell. Packaging is good enough for resale and can even be split to sell individual cells. Less than 25 cents per cell! Tested all cells and they all registered 1.55V or more. They seem to last a long time before running out of juice. GP is...
    Cons:
No "sell by" date so not sure how long these have been on the shelf.

    Good bang for the buck!

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
No dead LEDs - all worked fine. Good value. Versatile.
    Cons:
Emits a small amount of visible red light which can be seen if viewing closely, so evidently some power is being wasted. You ha...

    OK but could be better

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Really bright (almost too bright)! Great battery life due to low power consumption of LEDs. Very light, and it's flat so will take up little space. Comes with magnets and removable hanger.
    Cons:
Hanger had been crushed in shipping which limits the product's usefulness. Because it's so light, it's easy to dent. Quite diff...

    Not bad for the price

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The price is pretty good considering how many you get. Rubber covers seem strong if a little thin. Colour coded which is always good. Basically cheap crocodile clips with rubber covers as a bonus.
    Cons:
They don't clip on to multimeter test leads (e.g. SKU 9516) - you have to solder them to something for them to be useful.

Don't let the price put you off

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Good build quality, these have lasted me 6 months and counting. The leads supplied with my cheap multimeter (not from DX :)) only lasted a couple of months. A pretty good price! I don't use my multimeter heavily, so I didn't want to spend the earth. Ends ar...
    Cons:
I had to trim the plastic sheaths a little to get them to fit my multimeter properly. This is probably not necessary for all, b...

If you need an M2 reader, get this one

posted by chrisb on 09/01/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's quite small (but could be smaller). Fits nicely on a keyring. A much better solution than M2 to MS/MS Duo adaptors. Good data transfer speed.
    Cons:
Build quality is not that great, but at this price you can afford to buy two. Shame it doesn't support MicroSD as well.
