    Bright :)

posted by cranphin on 05/26/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Very very bright, it outshines anything I had including some MRV's :) I like the 2 mode better then the 5 mode, I'm pretty sure the two modes are either (very) direct drive, or the same with a resistor. And having a low mode means you can save the high, whi...
    Cons:
The head cannot me removed form the body (glued I assume), and in my model it's at a slight angle with the body, doesn't really...

    Great light :)

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Compact size, very bright, great build quality, compatible with other LP D-Mini parts, OP and smooth reflector. Fits -any- CR123/RCR123 cell, including the 2 mm long protected UltraFire ones from DX. Good price.
    Cons:
This design cannot tailstand, which is a shame. Somewhat dubious origins, Lumapower is upset about them :) You can get offi...

    I'm happy :D

    Pros:
Right, this is my second review on the light, cause I ordered a second after scratching the first badly while trying to unscrew the glued head ^_^ I had to wait a while, probably cause they were waiting for a new batch. And I have to say I'm glad for it :) ...
    Cons:
No tail stand, but that's not a biggy :) Lots of artefacts in the beam, it could do with a OP reflector :) Seems there's a lo...

    Fun :)

    Pros:
Tiny lil strong magnets, everyone needs some! :) Just bought them for fun, and since they're cheap. I'm sure I'll come up with several interesting ways to use them over time :)
    Cons:
Don't keep 'm near credit cards! ;) They shatter a bit easy, but this can't be helped since strong magnetic material is normal...

    Decent buy

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Adjustable level, which goes quite low. Nice solid build. Pretty decently bright. Nice forward clicky (I like it being soft/easy to press, can turn it off just by unscrewing the tail a bit :) ) Operation of all the buttons is easy :)
    Cons:
Again another light which has all the threads glued tight. I -hate- that ;) Especially because on this there's some light smudg...

    It's a darn cheap MRV :)

posted by cranphin on 09/14/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It's a real MRV, brightness is great, beam is -tight-, build quality is through the roof. It could well be proper Type III HA coating, but I don't know how to check that ;) I got two replacement clickies in the package, and if you also get the GITD caps ...
    Cons:
The shiny part on the middle is matte shiny on my original MRV, and gloss shiny on thisone. I like the matte better cause the s...

    Decent quality, bad selection :)

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Works as advertised. And I actually might like the quality/design better then the other 'AA/AAA' cases on some points: easier lock/unlock, more 'air' tight, good cases for just AAA. RC123's will fit too if you remove some small bits of plastic, which is act...
    Cons:
I want a set with more CR123 cases, 4xCR123 cases, and some 18650 cases :)

    Well built.

posted by cranphin on 08/31/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Simple design built solidly. Very useful when ordering from the US/china since most things support 220v/110v, but don't have the right plug. Doesn't take much space and fit's in tiny sockets cause of the flat design
    Cons:
Cause of the flat design I wouldn't recommend using it with the heavy chargers built in the plug, I think the mechanical stress...

Ok, but don't forget 2mm longer!

posted by cranphin on 08/31/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Seems to work ok, though I haven't tested it much, cheap price. Protection is a must have for flashlights really, to keep the cell from dropping below 2.5 or so volt, which is a bad bad thing, and for keeping it from overcharging too.
    Cons:
Protection adds 2mm, which is quite a lot if you use it in a 2xRCR123 flashlight (4mm total). It's more then most other RCR123 ...

    Pretty good.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Bright! Brighter then the other AA MTE lights. Good build quality. Nice bright pretty evenly lighted fat round spot makes it good for using in house, working on a desk, etc. And the color on high reminds me of Incan. lights, though slightly purplish. No Cre...
    Cons:
Warms up kinda quickly, not much quicker then the other MTE's though. The beam is nice and round, but has bright and darks spot...
