    Great for kids

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Very cheap and hard wearing. I also found these the easiest to program as they work with various pieces of software. Does indeed tune from 400MHz and the flashlight is a nice touch for those camping.
    Cons:
The sound is less than perfect but absolutely fine for general use. They just give a little extra noise compared to my other ra...

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These are easy to program and feel quite solid. They have a good battery life and are better build quality than the baofeng. The range is pretty high, had a few km out of these whilst inside one minibus to another and they work great with the hand held micr...
    Cons:
The charger is a little plastic but functionally works fine. I have one dead of these and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a programmi...

    Superb break boards

Involvement:Novice  (still getting used to it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The price of these is superb for 2 of them and they are clearly not second rate - they have the same IC and external components.
    Cons:
The header is a pain for connecting it to a bread board because of it's dual-in-line connector not spacing like a DIP. No onboa...

    Not for high current

posted by dandymon on 03/31/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Cheap, and the clips are shrouded (insulated) - just what I was after after all those short circuits from flimsy hook-up wire
    Cons:
The conductor is a little thin and it overheats with anything about 1A. The connections to the crocodile clips are also a littl...

    Look great

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Not over-powering light, very white and it diffuses the colour well.
    Cons:
Metal tabs are a little weak, get it in and get it right, there wont be lots of play with bending these. Doesn't offer light a...

    perfect

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Exceptionally low profile - protrudes about 2mm from socket in car, including the lip on the end. I thought I wanted a flush one, but the practicalities of trying to remove it would be troublesome. This really ticks the boxes - it's as good as flush with th...
    Cons:
Absolutely none - I waited a month before review
