    Cheap and effective

posted by daveatdx on 06/13/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Nice and cheap, connects and syncs nicely to an ipad mini. I assume this will be the case for all lightning connector products, but haven't tested.
    Cons:
Construction isn't as good as the OEM version. There is a noticeable difference in the feel of the cable and plugs, although th...

    Bright tight light!

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Very bright, useable at several power outputs, nice long throw. Head strap is long enough to fit over a bike helmet with stretch, and comfortably fits my head.
    Cons:
The focus is a bit too tight for walking around, although there is enough spill to see where your feet are going. The flashing ...

$1.50 saves a lot of heartache.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Protects the screen nicely. Sure, the iPhone doesn't scratch easily, but if you tend to leave coins and keys in your pocket like me than you're used to scratching displays. The matte finish is nicer than the original in my book.
    Cons:
A bit tricky to apply without bubbles. Patience and practice help (They're only $1.45, grab a few!)

    Very useful

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Super small and convenient. So long as you've got a way to get power to a drive you can hook it up. Very convenient for grabbing data from old drives, transferring it to upgrade drives, or similar situations. Plug and play on anything recent.
    Cons:
Not much. You do need a spare SATA power cable somewhere nearby, and a data cable to the drive.

    Required for many cars

posted by daveatdx on 04/05/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Lets my GPS work in the car. Magnet makes for easy mounting. Cable is long enough that I can get it tucked away and just leave the whole lot in place.
    Cons:
    Nothing for me.

Does the job, could sound better

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Lets you leave your ipod in a pocket or bag so it's out of the way. Looks quite good. Good value.
    Cons:
I found the sound quality to be much worse than with other remotes.

    A nice little opener

posted by daveatdx on 04/05/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Much less likely to scuff something you're opening than the usual butter knife or screwdriver. Comfortable grip. Bright yellow so you can find it in the toolbox.
    Cons:
Will still scuff some plastics if you're not careful, or if it's really stiff.

    A nice little viewer

posted by daveatdx on 04/05/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Good build quality. Cheap. Adjustable focus. Comfortable eye cup. Reasonable for having a closer look at the night sky. Lightweight.
    Cons:
$6.66 and helps you learn that the moon isn't perfect? I'm sure that's going to offend someone...

    Does a good job

posted by daveatdx on 04/05/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
This holds a light on a bike's handlebar nicely. There's a little bit of bounce on rough surfaces, but the light stays where it should be and keeps pointing in the right direction - it's just the beam spreads up and down a bit.
    Cons:
A little fiddly to get the tension right on the light holder. The hooks that hold the rubber strap look a bit thin, but they'r...
