    A good choice

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It fits tight, provides more grip so that the phone doesn't slide as easy out of your hand as before. Further, the button regions have a textured surface so that you find them easily. The original charger cable and ear phones fit through the holes. I really...
    Cons:
I don't know if it really protects against bumps since the plastics is quite hard.

    Nice

    Pros:
It does what you expect: Hold your solder wire and let you pull it from the roll. It even has a handle to carry the holder!
    Cons:
The wire could be easier to roll off. But the hole in the metal is a bit rough, perhaps file it smooth. It is not as good as th...

    Really good

    Pros:
Gread tool. I use it for every day's soldering of SMD components. The tweezers are made of stiff steel. Although I use them for months, they still hold components precisely. No bending, no corrosion. Flux residue is easily removed, of course.
    Cons:
    None.

    Pros:
This AC adaptor charges my iPod without problems. And it is damn small, you must agree. And in contrast to most AC adaptors at DX, this one has an European connector.
    Cons:
It is what you expect for the price -- built the cheapest way to build a charger: A self-oscillating circuit, a transformer and...

    Excellent

    Pros:
I use it to connect my laptop to a TV set (1280x or 1440x something, the VGA input is incapable of higher resolutions). The quality is good for VGA, as with a good cable. And it's cheap.
    Cons:
Perhaps the coloring: Blue with black stripes. It could have a nicer, sleek coating. But besides that, there was no real disa...

    Does what you expect

    Pros:
Dissolve it in Isopropyl or Ethanol, heat it, let it cool and the alcohol evaporate a bit. You get viscous colophony flux that won't flow away until you solder. With more alcohol, you get a liquid for brushing onto a PCB or sticking wires in.
    Cons:
It's a bit hard to dissolve a block, you have to break up the large block into smaller pieces. The block is poured into the car...

Good flux paste, but no soldering paste

posted by dextremeeal on 11/08/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It is a good flux paste, to reduce oxydized metal coatings when soldering and to help the tin flow. Compared to Colophony, it doesn't get sticky when drying out (well, it is a paste that won't dry out, but still an advantage over Colophony).
    Cons:
The fumes it produces while soldering are more irritating that those of Colophony (e.g. SKU 4697).

    Great for laptop battery replacement

    Pros:
The protection circuit is easily removable. The cells have leads attached with which you may solder them together. The cells last long and the price is OK.
    Cons:
Protection circuit and leads were isolated in a questionable way, if I remember correctly.

Works well, but not as delivered!

posted by dextremeeal on 10/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
    - Uses power-saving USB controller chips (Terminus Technology FE1.1s, FE2.1). They work like a charm, even with my 4 USB TV dongles on heavy load. - Cheap - LEDs at each port indicate if a device is connected. - Wall plug and cable is included
    Cons:
Many: - My device had a solder bridge between two pins of one USB controller, making two ports unusable - The soldering is of u...

    Pros:
This flashlight is really tiny -- not longer than a finger. It is ideal for taking it with you every day. The hard anodized III finish keeps it from becoming scratched easily. The body itself seems well-built (round, not too tight for the battery, easy to t...
    Cons:
