    Good for home testing

posted by goostom on 05/29/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I've used it in the beginning to test my home made network cables. It does the job and tells you if a wire is not connected. It has a remote terminal to be able to test wires that are already placed within walls.
    Cons:
IT does feel kind of cheap, but it works. Not sure why there are also leds on the remote terminal, because the base station is...

    Good for occasions

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I often go to places where there is still no wireless internet available and where we have to plug our laptop in with an ethernet cable. Since regular cables can take up some space in your bag, this cable is small in size.
    Cons:
The wires aren't twisted like normal UTP-cable. Be aware of this and that it can be a cause of getting EMI (Electro Magnetic In...

    Decent network crimp plugs

posted by goostom on 05/29/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
As an IT-guy I needed these for some home networking. I make cables myself and needed these plugs. They feel like all other crimp plugs I've ever encountered, so the build quality is very good. It fits the crimping tool perfectly and it closes like it should.
    Cons:
I've found no negative things about these plugs.

    Good solder iron

posted by goostom on 05/29/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This solder iron gets the job done. I don't need it really often so I decided to get a cheap one. I can solder with this pretty good, as long as you keep your tip clean and maintain it as you should. Small tip for soldering smaller areas.
    Cons:
The handle is made of hard plastic, as almost all other solder irons. There is however a small gap between the two halfs, but i...

    Pros:
I'm an IT-guy and needed these for some home networking. I make cables myself and this thing has helped me put on the plugs. It feels sturdy in your hand and can get the job done! It fits the RJ-45 plugs perfectly and closes them like this device should.
    Cons:
I still haven't encountered problems with my crimping tool.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It works as it should be, does the job very good. I've used it on several occasions to locate wires in my wall, to see whether there is current flowing through the wires, etc. It has a sturdy design and is easy to use. Also the price is very cheap compared...
    Cons:
I have this this for a long period of time and still haven't encountered a problem with it.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I've wanted a cheap pair of headphones that I can use to play games and for calling over internet. Sound quality is good and the design seems robust enough to withstand moderate use. The wires are wrapped in a plastic lace. I've had some conversations with ...
    Cons:
Sound quality may not be the best in the world, but what do you expect for this price. Some adjustments in your equalizer may d...

    Good set for starters

posted by goostom on 12/17/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Novice  (still getting used to it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    - cheap - sturdy design, plastic handle, metal picks. - picks are a little bit flexible, but that's good. - good for beginning lock pickers. - I got 2 kinds of tension wrenches, made entirely from metal.
    Cons:
    - Too bad that there is no snake raking pick in the set. There are 4-5 regular picks that look similar, they should change one ...
