    Decent Knife with Awkward Faults

posted by gregwalton on 12/13/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Nice size - it is on overgrown Boker Keycom clone - and the price is amazingly low as usual. Blade shape is a nice alternative to the Subcom clone sku.19364 and significantly longer. Pivot is pretty stable and the liner lock good with no play in the blade.
    Cons:
The thumbstuds totally wreck this knife in many situations. They stick out too far, making it pretty much impossible to use the...

    Works Well

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The most compact charger of its type. The compactness is limited more by the format of the UK plug than anything else. Mains and USB connectors work perfectly well and feel solid. Charges my HTC Wildfire and my Sansa Clips exactly as expected.
    Cons:
Can't think of any for my circumstances but in warmer climates it may, because of its size, have overheating difficulties when ...

    Handsome!

posted by gregwalton on 09/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Beautiful knife. Not too heavy or bulky. Well balanced. Good lock, as the liner seems a bit thicker than many other DX knives. Everything fits together perfectly - no blade play in any direction. Sharpens very easily to a very sharp edge.
    Cons:
On mine the blade edge was slightly damaged (rolled) in a couple of places. The blade was quite sharp, but I had expected more ...

    Good, but some issues

posted by gregwalton on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Generally well-made (But see Cons) with a good finish. Quite big in the hand, but not too bulky as it is not excessively thick. Blade was decently factory sharp - benefits from a bit of honing and stroppiing. Blade locks up well, with no play in any directi...
    Cons:
Handle is not particularly confortable. Belt cutter doesn't seem at all effective and just makes it more uncomfortable. Glass b...

    Excellent

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These are excellent pliers at any price, but particularly this cheap. I have worked in electronics professionally for over 20 years and these are as good as any I have used. Perfectly aligned and no play in the joint. aces fit together perfectly.
    Cons:
At this price, none really. Not sure how good the insulation on the handles is, and I don't intend to find out. I'm sure they a...

    Great for the price

posted by gregwalton on 07/28/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Really useful little knife. Compared to a penknife at the same price it weighs less, has a decent blade, locks well, can be opened one-handed and it looks waaay cooler. It came quite sharp and easily sharpens up enough to shave a few hairs off your arm (ass...
    Cons:
For the price? None, really. You could probably break it easily trying to lever a crate open and it wont keep an edge for ever ...

    Not the best

posted by gregwalton on 07/26/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's a knife: it opens and closes, it cuts, it sharpens. It's also lightweight, due to the frame construction and the frame lock works well.
    Cons:
The paint finish is rubbish and chips too easily. It arrived chipped on the pocket clip and the paintwork on the frame has chip...

    Great Little Knife

posted by gregwalton on 07/20/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Surprisingly good copy of the Boker Subcom F, including composite frame/scales. Blade is quite thin, but being so short it is plenty strong enough. It is small but the design is actually very easy to hold firmly. These features make for a knife which is ver...
    Cons:
Not easy to open one-handed: it can be done, but only just. Not always easy to unlock to close as the frame lock is quite stiff...

Great, but not assisted any more?

posted by gregwalton on 07/01/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Great build quality and feels more expensive. All the fasteners are properly tightened, the finish is flawless and blade arrived very sharp with a nicely polished edge. Love the snake-like styling as well - not overstated.
    Cons:
I ordered this knife because early examples were assisted-opening. The one I received is not. I'd be interested to hear if any ...
