    Good AAA

posted by higbvuyb on 12/21/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Excellent build quality Knurling is the best I've seen on a DX light. Much much better than the TK-701. Grippy enough that I could easily unscrew the glued threads by hand. Bright on both 10440 and Ni-MH
    Cons:
Single mode only Minor rings in the beam

    Great smart charger

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
-Charges a wide range of batteries. -Made of good quality plastic, feels solid. -Works on 240V AC as advertised, doesn't explode. -Mine charges a 14500 at ~270 mA. -For lithium secondaries, cuts off at 4.23 volts. Not perfect, but reasonably close to the op...
    Cons:
-The metal contacts aren't perfect and while fully functional, detract a bit from the build quality. -The spring-loaded conta...

    Great knife

posted by higbvuyb on 07/02/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Sturdy, good build quality. Good looking black coating. Locking mechanism part of the handle. It is 'two stage' and works well. Small, but large enough to fit a whole hand. Clip works well but doesn't obstruct your hand. Holes in the frame make it light and...
    Cons:
Blade did not come very sharp. The end of the blade is not coated, and is bare metal.

    Good tweezers

posted by higbvuyb on 07/02/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Decent build quality. Handles are insulated with some sort of black plastic coating. Comes decently packaged, with a tip protector. Looks professional. Grips very well even with light pressure. Useful for unscrewing flashlight pills. Sharp points give it hi...
    Cons:
Black coating on the handles is a bit messy, but this is fine for normal use. Metal is not exceptionally strong, it can bend ea...

    Great for torches

posted by higbvuyb on 07/02/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Very cheap. Would be worth it even if it was only a 2-pack. Colour looks very good on olive or black torches. Useful for finding torches in the dark. Glows at a low level for a long time. Decent build quality. Post is long enough to suit any light.
    Cons:
Does not glow brightly, even for a short time unless you hold it close to a light source. Feels a bit stiffer than an original ...

    Great budget 1xAA

posted by higbvuyb on 07/02/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
Great build quality. Still shipping the programmable 3-mode version, which is superior to the normal 6-mode. Nicely machined square threads and knurling. Tailstands. Very bright, good Q5 LED.
    Cons:
Threads did not come lubed. The inside is quite narrow, Trustfire 14500's do not fit unless you peel off the outer covering, wh...

    Butane Torch

posted by higbvuyb on 07/02/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Great price. Feels like solid metal construction. Very good build quality. Lights after just one or two tries. Does not leak at all: still holds its gas after months. Uses a standard filling port. Very hot flame.
    Cons:
Lights make it look like a child's toy. It would be better with solid blue lighting. Still takes a long time to melt anything. ...

    Circular Polariser

posted by higbvuyb on 07/02/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It's a circular polarising filter. It works exactly as advertised. The filter screws onto the end of a 52mm lens. The polariser rotates independently of the screw thread, so that you can use it at any angle. It autofocuses and meters properly on my DSLR. So...
    Cons:
The ring rotates a bit too freely, and the rotating motion is a bit 'grainy'. The metal has some slight discolourations on the ...

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
All the tools are useful, and work. The pliers are very handy, and solid. Easy to get a tight grip on objects. Pliers can also be used to cut thin metal objects reliably. Knife came sharp enough for light usage. Tools are held stiffly enough that they won't...
    Cons:
The retaining mechanism for the plier arms is not very reliable, and they only stay folded out due to friction. The arms can sl...
