Good AVR development board (NOT A JAILBREAK TOOL!)

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It is an excellent Arduino-like DIY part featuring Atmel AVR family AT90USB162 microcontroller on a wide DIP24-sized PCB. It is capable of in-system programming through common 6-wire interface (RST, SCLK, MISO, MOSI, GND, VCC) without any board-specific so...
    Cons:
IT IS NOT A JAILBREAK DEVICE (not a contra for me). It is not developed by Teensy (not a contra for me). It lacks the marking...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Works just fine for Linux (supported by generic kernel.org Linux 2.6 series kernel) and W*ndows (XP and 7).
    Cons:
The description says it's 10/100 Mbps, but that only means it understands 100baseTX signalling - it's the full-speed (not the h...

    Pros:
High accuracy and wide range for the great price. Robust construction and functional design. Sensor can be mounted on a tripod or any other holder with 3/8" screw.
    Cons:
The wire is short and not replaceable. Personally I'd like to make it detachable and have some commonly used connectors - say, ...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It is cheap and lightweight. It fits ears perfectly (replacement rubber liners are provided for different ear sizes). It provides really good noise insulation (now I am able to listen MP3 player in the subway, which is really noisy).
    Cons:
Sound quality is ok for 128kbit/s MP3 recordings, but you possibly won't like listening for high-quality or lossless audio form...

    Best sport watch at DX!

posted by int0x80 on 08/18/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Robust construction and stylish design. Capable of 24 hour format time displaying. Excellent green EL backlight. No decorative areas on the display - even that round "ticker" is functional (when in the stopwatch mode). Besides time display and the...
    Cons:
12/24 hour display mode is switched with one button press, and that's very annoying, as the right-upper button used for switchi...

    Good thing for its' job.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
First of all, it's perfectly braided using well-known knots - bowline (the mesh) and clove hitch (the anchor rings). It's compact and lightweigt, so it won't occupy much space in your backpack or overload it.
    Cons:
The cord is weak, as it consists of only sheath, without core. The item I've got is not dark green. Well, it's green - but it ...

Best 40 kg weighting hook at DX (as of Aug 2010)

posted by int0x80 on 08/12/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
First of all, this item will give you a capability of measuring weight up to 40kg with the accuracy of 10g - yes, 10 grams or just 0.025% It is really small and lightweight - being compared to SKU 30248 which I've purchased some time earlier (see my review...
    Cons:
Personally I don't like the idea of strap "growing" from inside the case, but it looks secure enough for not bothering about it.

    Perfect power source

posted by int0x80 on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Two "cigarette lighter" sockets (12...14V DC). Two USB (5V DC output) connectors powered by high performance step-down DC-to-DC converter based on a 34063AP chip (pulse width modulation a.k.a. "chopper" scheme).
    Cons:
Build quality is awesome - I had to open this item (just two screws at the bottom) in order to put USB connectors to their exac...

    Pros:
This hook scale is capable of weighting 0...20 kg load (yes, it's 20 kg max) with incredible accuracy of 0.05%
    Cons:
The buttons seem to be very easy to press accidentally. Tare button is ok, On/Off button should be small (same size as Tare), a...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Comfortable. Lightweight. Stylish. Should be an excellent gift (I hope they really are - will check that soon when I'll give them to my YL).
    Cons:
Putting them on requires some experience for getting each finger to its' exact place. You'll possibly also need five-fingers so...
