    Quite large idle current

posted by jonex on 11/11/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Seems to work fine. Output ripple was under 50mVpp under small loads. Efficiency was around 90 % with a 500 mA load. Output voltage setting is easy and accurate enough.
    Cons:
Idle input current was several milliamperes, 10mA with input of 10V and output of 4V. With power switched off idle current was ...

    Handy multipurpose Li-Ion charge

posted by jonex on 06/14/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
So far has been able to charge all 3.x volt Li-Ion batteries I've thrown at it, even though I've had to get a bit creative to get a connection sometimes.
    Cons:
I mainly got it to cheaply charge a couple protected 14500 batteries for my flashlights and with them the red light is always a...

Funky looking but the cheapest one

posted by jonex on 11/04/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:less than 1 day

    Pros:
It does one thing and seems to do it pretty well. Pretty low idle current, too.
    Cons:
Looks funny. Range is enough for a small room only. Adjustable light time would be nice.

    Center pinch lens cover

posted by jonex on 08/19/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Much easier to remove with the lens hood attached than the one that came with the lens (Sigma 10-20).
    Cons:
Gets knocked off when removing or attaching the lens hood. Does not hold very tight to the lens threads

    Your basic lens hood

posted by jonex on 08/19/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Provides much needes shade for a lens when the manufacturer is too cheap to include a simple piece of plastic for the purpose.
    Cons:
Doesn't quite lock (snap) into place. Held by friction. Luckily it is round so exact orientation is not critical. Inside surfac...
