    Handy avr programmer

posted by lordzamiel on 04/18/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This is a very inexpensive AVR programmer, comes with the (10 pin) connection ribbon cable.
    Cons:
This is the old style 10 pin connector, not the newer 6 pin as used on the arduino and most other current development boards. ...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Inexpensive, easy to interface bluetooth module for arduino or any other electronics project where you need serial-to-bluetooth connectivity with a minimum of complications. Can be plugged directly into a breadboard or connected with wires such as 'Dupont ...
    Cons:
'None that I've found so far.

Good DIP ZIF socket at an excellent price

posted by lordzamiel on 03/18/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Both sockets I ordered were tested, all the pins on the DIP made good contact with the breadboard through the ZIF socket. Good, positive locking lever.
    Cons:
The leads on the ZIF socket could be a bit longer. They were long enough for my breadboard, but it was a bit close.

    Very well made board

posted by lordzamiel on 03/03/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It's a very inexpensive lcd + 6 push button board, it is made well (all solder joints are good, no bridging or gaps), and has the header pins already on the back, making for quick breadboard use.
    Cons:
The contrast potentiometer (blue rectangle in top left of photo) is taller than the lcd, making putting it in a case a bit more...

    Nice acoustic guitar pickup

posted by lordzamiel on 02/05/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Very easy to install, just slide the clip on one side into the soundhole, then the other clip rotates into place when you're ready. It's lightweight, and doesn't take any modification to your guitar to install, and seems to work well even though I put clea...
    Cons:
The cable is a bit thin. It didn't seem to affect performance, but I'd be happier with a thicker one. There is no kind of str...

    Handy to keep in wallet

posted by lordzamiel on 02/05/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Seem to be made of good steel, tried to bend it with 2 pair of pliers and it didn't give (or break) so I'm certainly happy. It's the size of a credit card, so they fit in the wallet well, so you always have a knife, can opener, saw, flat head screwdriver a...
    Cons:
None really, like I said above some of the usefulness of the "tools" may be debatable, but it's certainly built well ...

Gave new life to an old mouse

posted by lordzamiel on 02/05/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I spend 12+ hours a day at the PC, and I'm fairly set in my ways. I have a mouse that I've been using for about 6 years now, because I've become accustomed to the way it feels in my hand. Recently I thought that I may have to retire it because I'd worn co...
    Cons:
    None. I 100% recommend them.

    Good, cheap mouse sliders

posted by lordzamiel on 02/05/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
These are inexpensive, round mouse sliders to replace the ones that invariably fall off the bottom of older mice. They seem to have good adhesive, so as long as you wipe off the bottom of your mouse with alcohol or the like they should stick for a long tim...
    Cons:
They're thin, and I mean really thin. About the thickness of a sheet of paper. This could be good for some applications' but it...

    Great bulk battery buy

posted by lordzamiel on 02/05/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Very inexpensive 2032's for when you need to feed a bunch of devices. Between three instrument tuners, 4 remotes, and various other electronics I have laying around that run on them, this is the only way to buy. I'd go broke buying them for $4 each at the...
    Cons:
Packaging could be a little easier to open and reclose. When I opened them for the first time I sent batteries skittering all ...

Works out of the box on Win 8

posted by lordzamiel on 01/04/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Compact bluetooth adapter, was immediately recognized by my new Windows 8 Pro x64 system. Had no problems connecting to my android phone, tablet, or bluetooth printer with it. Range is satisfactory, my printer is across the room (probably 15 feet away or ...
    Cons:
    None.
