Good lighter for a great price

posted by lustreking on 07/30/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This lighter has a great wind resistant flame. It is refillable, and it is clear, so you can see the level of the fluid easily. You can easily adjust the flame without using any tools, buy just turning the bottom of the lighter by hand
    Cons:
Mine didn't come filled, but maybe it's not legal to ship them filled with a pressurized flammable substance. The metal end of ...

Doesn't work with my DVD player

posted by lustreking on 07/30/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Very nice build quality for the price. I was expecting it to feel much cheaper, but it is solid. It has a big manual with the codes in, but it will also automatically scan for codes if you don't find your device listed.
    Cons:
I couldn't get it to work with my DVD player. My DVD player is made by Koss, so it's not a real big name manufacturer, but I'd...

Nice IR illuminator for the price

posted by lustreking on 07/30/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I haven't come across an IR Flashlight cheaper than this one. It works great with Niteshot on a Sony Handycam. It greatly extends the usable distance of the Niteshot, while costing a fraction of what Sony's illuminator does.
    Cons:
I don't have too much to complain about.

    Very Bright

posted by lustreking on 07/30/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
These little lights are super bright for something so small, and the price is great too. All 10 of mine worked fine. The switch is nice too.
    Cons:
I've never had one in constant use, but they do get a little warm after a while. I'm not sure how long the batteries/LED will ...

Nice Scale for a Great Price

posted by lustreking on 07/30/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Very nice scale with decent resolution. It has a locking function so that when the scales settles on a weight, it will lock on the display. This is useful if the scale turns while you're holding it
    Cons:
The only thing that I can think of is that the strap might not be substantial to hold something up to 20 kg. I haven't had any...

    Poor Build Quality

posted by lustreking on 07/30/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The external display is nice. Comes with an English manual
    Cons:
The build quality on the one that I received was bad. The soldering was horrible. There were obvious cold solder joints, some...

    Inexpensive and useful

posted by lustreking on 07/08/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I bought this to measure trails on backpacking maps. This is much less expensive than other map measures out there, but at the cost of convenience.
    Cons:
I don't think that the compass points truly north, but that's not too big of a deal, because I'd only use it before I got to th...
