Replacement casing that is an exact replica of the original

posted by mattioksanen on 01/03/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
An exact replica of the original, but price is really, really low. I bet VW/Audi/Skoda dealership would charge 5-10x more (didn't bother to ask, as I found it from DX) for a replacement. So extremely good value for the money. Quality is good, electronics an...
    Cons:
Original VW casing has a rubber seal to make it more dust/waterproof, but this does not have a seal, and the original seal does...

Small and lightweight bike light, bright enough for the darkest rides

posted by mattioksanen on 11/20/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Really, really bright. Small and lightweight. Both light and battery are easy to install to the bike. Battery lifetime long is enough, at least for my rides. ~2 hours with highest brightness, and the indicator is still showing green. Also seems to be waterp...
    Cons:
Carousel type power button (High -> Low -> Blink -> Off) is a con. When you're facing traffic, you may want to switch ...

    Tiny but extremely bright flashlight

posted by mattioksanen on 11/20/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
About the same size as Maglite Solitaire which I had previously attached to my key ring, but this is 10x brighter! Nice solid build, quality seems to be at par with brand flashlights like Maglite & Led Lenser.
    Cons:
Tends to get a bit hot, when turned on for a longer period of time (>10 minutes @ indoor temperatures).

Small, versatile and easy-to-use remote control

posted by mattioksanen on 11/20/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Good quality, especially compared to price. Range seems to be good, in my application distance between TX and RX is ~10m, a couple of walls between those, and I don't have to extract the antenna on the remote at all. Easy to use and to install. Versatile, c...
    Cons:
No user manual supplied (not that I needed one, but someone might). What comes to the product itself - no cons so far.

Simplest possible device to do the conversion

posted by mattioksanen on 10/31/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Extremely simple and cheap. When installed to a wall socket transformer, you can forget that it's there, as it fits like it belongs there.
    Cons:
Makes the really safe and child-proof European sockets a bit more unsafe, as a loosely connected adapter might reveal some live...
