    A upgrade, perhaps?

posted by milliwhat on 06/01/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
What I got was rather different to what's in the photo here. Perhaps you will too. I've uploaded pics, but they're taking ages to show up. But I think it might be an upgrade. Essentially, it's the same thing, a breadboard-able power supply. The input is v...
    Cons:
The USB socket is a female A, the same as you would find on your computer. So to power it *from* the computer, you will need a ...

    Essential...erm...if you need it.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
-- Allows you to power a SATA drive when your PSU has only Molex connectors. -- Also functions as a short extension lead.
    Cons:
-- None really, though if your case is small, or the distance between PSU and drive is short, as it is in my Antec P180, you en...

A disguise like an incredible hulk mask

posted by milliwhat on 09/10/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
-- You're getting a DTMF (tone) phone, and a cheap one at that. Keypad has last-number redial, "pause" and mute. No "recall" button (sometimes used for PBX functions) unless that's what "pause" does. -- The included phone cord...
    Cons:
-- My first one was broken in several ways, so I wouldn't like to say how durable they are (DX immediately sent a replacement t...

    With free case.

Involvement:Novice (still getting used to it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It works. I have, for scant minutes, gotten to use more expensive models, like from Hohner, but I'm not sure this counts as experience. Point is, it didn't feel "wrong" in any way. Breathe out, it makes noise. Breathe in, it makes a different nois...
    Cons:
Can't think of any cons, unless annoying people counts.

    Handy for non-smokers

posted by milliwhat on 08/30/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
I don't smoke, but you don't have to store just cigarettes in here. Anything that would benefit from not being crushed in your bag, and is no thicker than a cigarette would work. In my case, a few sticking plasters, and some tablets in blister packs.
    Cons:
Considering it is pressed steel and a spring, it's perhaps a dollar or two too much- but that's only compared with some of the ...

    Only barely satisfactory

posted by milliwhat on 08/19/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    - It is wireless, and works on batteries, so you don't need to site it near power, or drill holes- at least, not for the sender. The receiver you will need to glue or screw to the wall.
    Cons:
-It isn't waterproof. It's hardly even water-resistant. I don't the electronics on the sender would care that much, but it's ...

    Point holdy things

posted by milliwhat on 08/17/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
The pros are quite obvious- they are what they are- ideal for manipulating very small objects, from surface mount components to pulling out fine splinters from your skin.
    Cons:
I think I would have liked to have seen either an additional flat- or square-end pair or to have have one of the pointed pairs ...

    Fun, handy, cheap. Pick three.

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Well, the most obvious pro is that it's a three in one device, so saves you from carrying three different devices. The laser is probably around 5mW or so, powerful enough to use as an actual pointer without blinding anyone, but still very visible, at night...
    Cons:
I don't want to complain, given the inevitable compromises necessary in this price band, but problems include: Not vaguely wat...

Slightly silly name, but pretty nonetheless

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Loud alarm, quite annoying- a definite bonus in an alarm clock, don't want anything you could sleep through. It's a matter of taste, but I find the backlights and case illumination quite pretty. It shows everything you want to know bar the alarm all the t...
    Cons:
The battery compartment cover had too thick a chunk of foam on it, and caused it to bulge very slightly outwards when batteries...

Backup your SMS and addressbook today!

posted by milliwhat on 08/17/2007 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Much, much cheaper than the official ones, but absolutely no difference. I had no problems hooking it up to my Nokia 6610i. Then I installed Wammu on my Kubuntu-based PC, and I was quickly making a backup of the address book, my SMS messages... And it work...
    Cons:
None. The phone I used it on has no bluetooth, and most computers have no IrDA, so really it's the *only* option for connectivity.
