Good player with a few things to note

posted by misterlar on 03/02/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Plays just about anything -- as long as it's 8-bit (will not play the newer 10-bit files like some anime files). Good remote control (NOT a flat "card" type remote) that uses AAA battery (not coin battery). Great quality picture, intuitive softwar...
    Cons:
Included AC Adaptor was made cheaply, and is starting to come apart (I've taped it together with electrical tape). There's alwa...

Solar works and charges, pretty good

posted by misterlar on 10/07/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
The solar cel works fine. I let it drain all the way over 24hrs until it was dead (tried switching it on and off, no power). Then put it in the sun, and it soon charged to become nice and bright as it's always been. Surprisingly lightweight. I like that it'...
    Cons:
None that I can see. Price is so-so. A similar light (the Nebo solar) sells for a lot more ($16) though on the Nebo you can rem...

    Works great!

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Great flashlight that recharges well. I have three of them because I like them so much. Especially nice is that it's flat (not round) so it lays nicely on a desk or nightstand. Very lightweight!
    Cons:
Price at $8.66 is a bit high compared to other solar flashlights, but I bought the same exact flashlight for $12 from ebay, so ...

    Great Fun for Kids

posted by misterlar on 07/20/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Great fun for kids. Gave one to my niece and she loved playing with it. Write with the invisible ink, it remains invisible until you shine the built-in UV(?) light on it. Self-contained invisible-ink pen and special flashlight all in one, so it's handy and ...
    Cons:
Cap that you take off in order to get to the writing area is a bit stiff, but no big deal (better stiff than loose). No real co...

    Works great

posted by misterlar on 07/18/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Works great. I have a bunch of outside solar-rechargable garden LED lights for the walking path. I replaced the old NiCads with these and these work great. They recharge nicely each day, and stay bright a lot longer than the old NiCads did. Price is excelle...
    Cons:
No complaints except just that they're plain green color (no big deal).

    Amazing! Works great

posted by misterlar on 07/18/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Works exactly as advertised. Can't believe it, but it does. On some phone models you can see the bars actually disappear as you just place it partially in. I've tried it a half-dozen times with three different phones, and for sure it works.
    Cons:
    No cons at all

    Does exactly as advertised

posted by misterlar on 07/18/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It does exactly what it advertises: it projects the time (and month/date and seconds if you push a button) onto a wall. It's bright enough to see in monderate light as well as darkness. Build quality seems good.
    Cons:
None that I can think of, except perhaps that it's not really an important gadget (I'm trying to think what actual use there wo...

posted by misterlar on 07/18/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
The three LEDs are super-bright, and the unit is well-built and smart looking.
    Cons:
Unfortunately the solar cel seems to be just for decoration. It does not actually recharge once batteries are dead (I tested my...

Nice, and it really IS solar.

posted by misterlar on 07/10/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Unlike item #13088 (on which the solar cel is fake), this flashlight (#12925) actually *IS* solar-powered just as advertised. I'm very happy with it. The switch you can easily leave "on" (you don't have to hold it down all the time), and the solar...
    Cons:
None, except the price could be a little lower. Still, at least the solar cel is real and works.

    Good Charger

posted by misterlar on 06/30/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Charger worked just as described, quickly. I like the LCD readout and the discharge function.
    Cons:
None really. People have mentioned a humming sound. I heard did it, but it was very faint (I was charging 2 AAA batteries at th...
