    good level indicator

posted by mlksa on 03/10/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It's a tiny PCB with separate input pin. You can show both AC and DC levels because there is a jumper that adds a short circuit to an electrolytic capacitor on input pin. The KA2284 IC has a built-in amplifier and rectifier, so you can make an audio level i...
    Cons:
You can't use it for 1 Li-ion cell indicator because of low voltage. You can adjust the trim pot to turn red led "on"...

    simple and good charger

posted by mlksa on 02/26/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Good build quality. Doesn't overheat while charging. Uses an IC for AC/DC internal power supply. Cheap price. Large 18650 battery holder lets you insert protected cells as well.
    Cons:
No EMI filter and no fuse in 220V circuit. A little bit high output voltage without batteries connected, I have measured about ...

    a ready to use ammeter

posted by mlksa on 02/25/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
It's an inexpensive analog current meter, doesn't need an extra shunt to work just because there is alrealy connected one under the back side cover. I't just a thick wire. I like the build quality and the look of the meter. It arrived exactly as it looks on...
    Cons:
Not really a con but you'll need some space behind the surface you mount the meter to. It looks really like a cube, so you have...

    good light for DIY projects

posted by mlksa on 02/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Slim and lightweight design, wide range of power supply voltage (all LEDs are connected by 3 in series, then grouped in parallel via 120 Ohm smd resistors). You can get some light even from a 9V source. Many spare connectors of different types allow easy in...
    Cons:
Well if you decide to make a 220V bulb with this PCB you'll have to use a separate LED driver or 12V DC power supply because of...

    simple to use digital voltmeter

posted by mlksa on 12/18/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Compact size, no backlight required because of LEDs display, just two wires to connect (powered by the same battery you measure). Wide range of input voltage.
    Cons:
Minimum input voltage is 3.2V which is too high because discharged Li-ion. batteries may have lower voltage. One decimal digit ...

an useful thing for home lighting

posted by mlksa on 12/18/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This is a must when you have to double your light brightness without replacing a torch, without drilling, without using screws and a hammer. Just put this splitter instead of your bulb, then put two bulbs in it. Simple to disassemble if you use it for DIY p...
    Cons:
That single-end thread is too short in some cases (depends on your torch construction). However it is easy to mod this adapter ...

a good toy and musical instrument

posted by mlksa on 12/18/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
You can play right out-of-the-box. Dual power supply (4xAA vs 6V DC). Compact and lightweight in folded state. Blue backlight of the LCD display lets you play in a weak ambient light. MIDI out (I didn't test it yet), headphone and speaker outputs available....
    Cons:
No DC adapter included :( this saved you two bucks :) Volume level is too high by default and you have to set it some lower eve...

    Very nice torch for money

    posted by mlksa on 08/08/2012

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It is a compact (remember you can use it with 18650 battery) zoom flashlight. The case finish is well made. The torch has a thermal grease added between the LED base and the case. Of course it is very bright due to XM-L T6 LED. It can stay on a tail cap.
    Cons:
The case doesn't have any labels or marks, not actually a con. Can't find any other con yet.

useful 3rd arm for a cameraman

    posted by mlksa on 08/08/2012

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
It's a lightweight support arm for your camera or camcorder. The price isn't that high, this one is affordable for everyone. Good build quality.
    Cons:
Well you see this is a pipe - like monopods and tripod legs, and I wish it had some thicker pipe for extra hardness. The belt m...

    Good value for money

posted by mlksa on 01/30/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
It is cheap for such a brightness and zoom. White color is not so bluish, you can take photos and video using this flashlight. It is compact and small enough for this battery size.
    Cons:
The LED star has poor thermal contact to the case. No grease at all. The gaps around the star are up to 1mm wide. The plastic L...
