Slim design, ideal for backpacking and camping

posted by mpiet on 05/06/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I was looking for sthg that stores less bulky than the other Butane Jet Lighters on DX. Looking at all the other reviews I was not sure which one will fit my needs (small packing, lightweight, reliable). This one did not have many reviews yet, but I am very...
    Cons:
The only thing I don't like about it is the color.

Very practical gadget, but not very cheap.

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
I am using this during air travel to hang my smaller gadgets to the in-seat pocket in front of me (where the airline newspapers are typically stored). Big plus is that - compared to the aluminum versions of the carabines - this S-Biner does not have sharp e...
    Cons:
None so far, other than you get what you pay for, and here the quality is quite good.

    OK build quality

posted by mpiet on 05/06/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I have been using my ASUS Infinity for more than a year now, and I am quite happy - particularly since the 4.2.1 Update. The major downside was the lack of a regular USB OTG interface. with this device, you can now watch movies from your USB stick, or show/...
    Cons:
While it is practical to use, be careful when use this when moving around with your tablet; there is a danger you can break you...

Use your ASUS Infinity on the road

posted by mpiet on 05/06/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Good build quality, yet not perfect. Definitely a must-have if you travel a lot and cannot charge your ASUS Infinity on the road, since it requires a higher current/voltage than a regular USB plug can deliver.
    Cons:
Plug needs a little push into the tablet device, not really a perfect fit.

WOW - very strong magnets, but 1 of 10 arrived broken

posted by mpiet on 01/26/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Super strong magnets - my little boy was not able to pull one apart, and even my adult fingers need to work them hard to separare one from another. - Very versatile usage. While I use the smaller ones for tools and opening / closing of devices, these ones I...
    Cons:
Rather expensive, but still OK given their strength. - Else, nothing to complain about, other than one of them arrived broken a...

Incredibly strong, don't break easily, yet not a cheap buy

posted by mpiet on 01/26/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Incredibly strong little magnets, I use them for building magnetic contacts, and they bridge much farther distances than other cheap magnets. Also great for using with non-magnetic tools to make them magnetic temporarily.
    Cons:
Be careful when you play with some of them attache to another: the added magnetic strength will strongly and immediately attrac...

Got two, one ok, one w/o continuous flame

posted by mpiet on 01/26/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
I ordered two of this model, and luckily I did: the first I filled up half-way with butane, then tested it. The flame showed to be non-continuous: it goes on and just after 0.5 - 1 seconds it will go off again. There are no ways to influence that, or to mod...
    Cons:
The build quality appears not to be too great, so if you desperately need one that works, you rather order 2 (or 3?) to be on t...

OK buy, does not smell, quality OK

posted by mpiet on 12/23/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
PU Leather case does not smell like many others do. Quality is good enough for the price, but not excellent. It does smell a bit at the beginning, but will go away soon. Sewn properly, I would have kept it for myself if I had not purchased a full silicone c...
    Cons:
Smells just a little bit, but smell will vanish after a week or so. Is not padded too well to protect from drops.

    Good and cheap buy

posted by mpiet on 12/23/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
This piece looks cheap and is cheap, but it does its job it was designed for. If you buy a product in the US and wish to use it permanently in Europe, go buy enough of this tiny device as it does not cost any big money, but will serve you a good purpose.
    Cons:
The pins are not solid, but they are cramped metal, which looks very cheap but does not harm the functionality at all.

Low build quality, handle with caution

posted by mpiet on 12/23/2012 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Does what it should be doing: the spring works OK, the wires are very thin, which is good for flexibility, but less optimal for durability.
    Cons:
Be careful when soldering, wires may rip off easily. Not sure how many times the plastic will release the Rechargeable, it appe...
