    Nicely made

posted by murcod on 02/08/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Appear to be very well made. The remote comes with a battery installed and has a sandwiched silicone membrane between both halves- so should be waterproof (or at least water resistant.) Dimming function works very well. The remote seems to work well at dist...
    Cons:
Flashing mode? I can only get it to flash off the light once when the up/down dim buttons are pushed together, it does not cont...

    What a nice torch!

posted by murcod on 05/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
-I've got three different DX torches and this is by far the best, it's the brightest and by far the the highest build quality. -Gives a broad beam and decent throw, it lights up my backyard nicely.
    Cons:
Why are torches made black in colour? The lights go out and you're looking for a torch that is black! What about a plain silve...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Looks cute - women love it. Mine was a Mother's Day present....
    Cons:
-It needs a reasonable amount of light to function- more than I expected after reading some of the other reviews. -It would pe...

    Excellent flood light for camping

posted by murcod on 05/09/2011 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
-The main body is very well made and looks to be very high quality (nicely machined aluminium body, glass lense and decent gaskets to seal it) -Provides a wide spread of light -Draws only around 560mA from a 12V battery
    Cons:
-The mounting bracket (while functional) is a bit of a let down compared to the high quality main body. - A longer flylead woul...

    Excellent little torch

posted by murcod on 10/19/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Very nicely made. Provides a good beam (not too narrow/ but not too "floody".) A very bright emitter and it doesn't seem to chew through the batteries (I've been running it on one NiMh recharegable with no problems.) Give a decent throw (taking into consid...
    Cons:
I bought it for my 2yo daughter to play with, it has copped some heavy drops and survived fine. However, when near new I had in...

Handy device for converting ES fittengs to LED

posted by murcod on 08/14/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
Seems to be very made and decent quality. Easy to screw into down light fittings and then GU10 LED globes can be used (which are a lot easier to find and cheaper than E27 LED globes.) Good pricing, I'd expect something like this to cost a bit more........
    Cons:
    None that I've found.

    A good light

posted by murcod on 04/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Nicely made with a good looking heatsink. Good spread of light, and decent light output. White light- doesn't look blue tinged in isolation. WILL WORK WITH 12V DC too! Not advertised on the website, but written on the box they come in and verified on a c...
    Cons:
    - The outer ring around the lense will pop off if you're not careful. This will then give access to the LEDs themselves as the ...

    Nicely made, wide beam width

posted by murcod on 04/30/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Very well made. Contains some sort of driver regulator circuitry. Very wide beam pattern (approx 60 degrees at a guess?) Very even light spread except for a slight ring right at the edge.
    Cons:
Fairly low intensity light output, good for moodlighting, but certainly not bright enough to light up a room for reading.

    Different bubl being supplied now?

posted by murcod on 04/29/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
I've just bought a second lot of SKU 1366 and the bulbs that have turned up are not the same as the original items I purchased. See earlier review.
    Cons:
New bulbs look more like SKU 13452 but with the lenses fitted to the SKU 1366. They are slightly shorter in length and have th...

    Cheap and bright

posted by murcod on 04/12/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
Extremely bright and light throws a long distance Useful low intensity "spill" in immediate area Very white light with no discernable tint
    Cons:
Runs VERY hot if left on for any period of time. I was going to build a custom torch with multiple units in one head but this w...
