Gets the job done (little more)

posted by orivar on 11/28/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    * Very cheap solution for devices that only have car lighter power adapters * Usually just charges devices - which might take longer using this but works like a charm
    Cons:
Says it puts out 550mAh. I think it puts out even less, never bothered checking. Either way when I use it with my portable DVD ...

Too expansive for what you get!

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    * Lots of features * Features important keys, a built in trackball mouse and a laser pointer for all your presenting needs * Looks like an expansive tough product (though it's not well built at all), comes in a nice bag.
    Cons:
    * Very expensive * No english manual and with two seperate modes and awkward pictures on the buttons it's pretty hard to figur...

Cheap but not all that great

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    * Pretty strong for their size * Cheap * If you're looking for magnets (which is kind of weird to begin with but sometimes you just are) these will probably get the job done (put a couple on the bottom of my USB WiFi receiver I got from DX, girlfriend use...
    Cons:
    * Fragile - I broke a whole bunch just playing around with them * Should be either stronger or bigger (thicker?)

Either I got the wrong SKU or this is amazing

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
The device I got came in an original looking box but marked in what I can only assume is japanese. It came Wii branded, with a manual and even a code for the Wii Club japanese website. Either this is an original wiimote or DX started selling exact replica k...
    Cons:
The speaker and vibration do seem to be a lot stronger than in my other wiimotes. Sound quality's not as good either, even when...

You need a fan for your wii, trust me on ths one

    Pros:
    * Cools down your Wii. I personally had trouble reading lower quality discs (you figure out why I had such low quality discs yourself, K? ;)) and was sure I was doing something wrong. After turning off the WiFi when in suspend mode everything started workin...
    Cons:
    * USB port placement on the device itself is kind of awkward, espacially if your console lies flat and doesn't stand up.

Good price, not what I expected though

    Pros:
I bought this set after already owning a macro extension tube for my E-410 (the EX-25). I figured I could get even bigger more detailed images with these filters. The filters do a great job of shortening the minimal focus distance but on my 55-200mm lens th...
    Cons:
Hard to achieve real macro with these combined with a long focusing lens. I'd try it on my 18-50mm but it's a different filter ...

    Pros:
    * Amazing signal strength - I tried connecting to a public hot spot from my office using my netbook by putting the computer out the window. I only saw one bar on the reception indicator and failed to connect. I closed the window, place the computer on my de...
    Cons:
    * 600mw is incorrect - the box says 500mw, but it also says 25+/-2 dBm on 11b and 15+/-2 dBm on 11g. FYI 27 dBm is 500 mw, so y...

    Good, not great

posted by orivar on 07/31/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * Great for first person shooters - I've been using it with Call of Duty 5 and even though it's easier to play with a mouse and keyboard the gaming experience is much better with a (plastic) gun * Good design - based on the original Wii Zapper, this item ha...
    Cons:
    * Bad packaging - comes in a plastic bag (inside the DX bubblewrap envelope), mine came with a small scrape on one of the corne...

    Definetly worth the money

posted by orivar on 01/10/2009 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * Works right out of the box (battery even included) * Controls my E-410 like a charm * Works well from most angles (I've yet to test its range) * Retail remote is 25-30$. Do the math.
    Cons:
    * Build quality is good but not perfect (the glossy front panel isn't entirely flat) * Very few buttons, and not all of them ev...

Good prodcut for simple every-day use

posted by orivar on 12/15/2008 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * Works out of the box - no need to install anything * Big and well built, not one of thos paper-thin fragile remotes * Most functions you'll ever need on one remote with clear icons and text for each button * IR receiver cable length was more than enough f...
    Cons:
    * Recognized as an HID device (keyboard + mouse) - not compatible with some remote control programs * Keys are not redefinable,...
