    Cheap! Cheap! Acceptable quality

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * 3 meters is a lot, most shops in EU will sell you by small pieces, which come a couple times more expensive than this * It's just the kind of thing that's super useful, especially when dealing with electrical stuff * It's very cheap as stated before
    Cons:
    * 2:1 shrink ratio is not that great * The packaging is not great(you can see on customer images) and comes with the typical cr...

    Fair quality, but great price

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * It is a good red 5mW, about the same as my other 5mW * It is in a metal casing * Uses a two AAA, which is very common and cheap * The price is amazingly cheap
    Cons:
    * The metal casing is quite crappy, thin, badly threaded. * The pen holding clip is on the wrong end * There is no instructions...

    Cheap and cheap

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * Dirt cheap, you get 20 for close to nothing * Highly useful, for batteries, for your fridge, and more stuff
    Cons:
    * You need two together to get a strong enough magnet for fridge usage * 2 of the 20 came with damaged coating, nothing dealbre...

    Great value, precise tweezers

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * They are made of pretty good steel * They are highly precise, I could pick up really small particles and elements with them * They're quite affordable * The coating is very nice too, I didn't want to use the uncoated ones, because of static issues * They'...
    Cons:
    * The protective caps are quite crappy, but that's minor

Decent price for a product like described

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * These survival kits are just great to have. You can have fun with friends that never saw any, or just use them when camping and not finding your lighter:) * It'll last a couple hundred scratches from what I can tell
    Cons:
    * It is a bit expensive, especially considering it's only the 3mm kind, an 8mm would be nicer * I found that the cord that come...

Great value pack, for fairly typical hooks

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * 10 hooks that will make measuring incredibly more precise and easier than with typical crappy croc pincers * They all work pretty good
    Cons:
    * None, a good case of cheap and good. Just go for it.

Standard quality flux at high discount price

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * Works as expected * It's real flux * Fairly sticky, it'll stay where you want it to be * It will make a major difference when soldering small stuff:)
    Cons:
    * It's kind of expensive considering you can make your own flux using IPA and resin(sku.4697), but if you want easy to use and ...

Good quality desoldering wire, flux soaked

posted by pkcahier on 08/11/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * Flux soaked * Good copper braid sucks in good quantities of solder * Cheap compared to what you find in EU
    Cons:
    * It's a bit short as some said, you'll run through it faster than you think:) * It's harder to use than you'd think, it does n...

Odd item, but highly useful to fix hot things

posted by pkcahier on 08/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:more than 1 month

    Pros:
    * High quality kapton tape * Resistant over 300°C here * CHEAP, as in amazingly cheaper than any other store, local stores are 10x more expensive
    Cons:
    * It's not very sticky, but then it's high temperature tape so don't expect miracles * 10mm is not very wide, you might want to...

Slightly expensive for a not so useful item

posted by pkcahier on 08/10/2010 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 week to 1 month

    Pros:
    * You get tons of those * They work as expected * Two forms allow to fit most situations on solder stations/desks.
    Cons:
    * Pads kind of suck for cleaning, you'll want a solder removal ball(sku.6380) which is a tad more expensive but way more effici...
