Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Good all-purpose solder for a solid price. This is definitely the stuff you want to buy a bunch of and keep around for your various projects. It isn't the highest quality obviously, but at 1mm it is the perfect thickness for most jobs and it flows well as...
    Cons:
    None worth mentioning.

You will never use a sponge again

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This is far less messy than using a water and sponge. I don't like having to have water around my electronics anyways. Cleaning is quick, just dash your tip in the ball a few times and it is scrubbed clean.
    Cons:
This needs a holder of some sort. There are ones for sale or you can just use any shallow holder since these have some weight t...

Excellent Bargain For A Quality Tool

posted by quasicoltd on 05/26/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
De-soldering is so easy with this. Simply heat the joint until it's a shiny blob, put this next to it, and release the spring loaded plunger and the solder blob disappears! Extremely cheap for the quality. Similar ones sell in local shops for $12. Tips a...
    Cons:
The spring in this is stiff, and since the unit is light it can jump a lot when you release it. Be careful because it can jump ...

Involvement:Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
This stand is cheap, easy to assemble, and has all the basic features. Assembly is simple, Thread one nut on both holders, stick in base, thread the other nut on the bottom (you will need some small needle nose pliers to make this easy). Mine came with...
    Cons:
Mine did not come with a sponge like the picture indicates. Other reviewers said that theirs came with one. Either way I use t...

    NOT 110v! 220v Version!

posted by quasicoltd on 05/24/2013 Certified Owner

Involvement:General (knows how to use it) - Ownership:1 day to 1 week

    Pros:
Cheap, Compact, Easy to use. Operation is simple, plug in and solder away! No controls of any sort. Just be sure to use a stand since there is no off switch. Tips can be changed out by unscrewing 2 screws. Build quality was solid for it's price range.
    Cons:
Don't be fooled by the plug in the picture! This is the 220v version not the 110v that is advertised! I didn't realize this a...
